Free To Good Home
I really hate to say this, but I'm going to have to give Sasha up. I dont have the time or the patience to tend to her puppy needs. This was actually supposed to be a friend's dog, but once he saw how puppy like she is (obviously she is a puppy for Gods sake lol) he didnt want her anymore and pretty much left her all to me.
I can not take care of this dog. I have other things that need to be tended to and I just cant do it. Shes a great dog for the outdoors, but she does get hot easily and requires lots of water. She is 2 months old and for her age is really well behaved. She does get very attached to people and loves to be around people. She has a habit of jumping up on you, which needs to be addressed. I have been keeping her in the garage with a fan on her and 2 bowls of water. She eats 3 times a day, 1 cup each time of Purina Puppy Chow. I would not let this dog in since she is a puppy and will find things to chew on. She can not be left unattanded inside for over 5 minutes because she will either find something to chew on or pee all over the place. She needs lots of behavior training. If anyone is interested in her. She is a Pit/Boxer/Lab mix and I am willing to give her to someone as long as it is a good home, and they have a fenced yard for her to roam. I live in North Georgia. Please let me know if you are interested by PMing me or emailing me. Thank you. |

Of course she does all of this! She is a BABY! I hope with all my heart she finds a loving home where someone can teach her everything she needs to know and has all the time in the world for her. Poor little baby.

Don't give her away for free - have her spayed first (yes, you can spay them that young, I just did 2 puppies) and charge a small adoption fee - you could donate that fee to a rescue or shelter or use it to pay for the spay. Do not let her become an outdoor dog even though you say she would be good outside - that is not a way for a dog to live a happy life. She is just a puppy and does all the things a puppy naturally does. She will never learn to be a well behaved dog if she stays in the garage or outside. Crate her when you can't keep an eye on her and tie a leash to your waist when she's out in the house so she can't get into trouble. Work with her training using treats. She is very moldable at this age - easy to create a well adjusted, well behaved joyful dog or the opposite, an unsocialized terror that doesn't know how to behave properly. If you can't or won't do that then do find her another home, but make sure you find the right one that will give her all that she needs and won't just banish her to the backyard to simply exist - that's not a life.

I'd also have them fill out an aplication, like the ones that rescues do. If you can't handle her, make sure you find a home that does, and if they can't ever take care of her, have them give her back to you, and not to a shelter.
I really wish you could take the time to work with her, if you do, she will turn into a loving adult sooner or later, but since she wasn't supposed to be yours and you didn't plan on having a dog, I can understand if you just can't. |

Well I know it all sounds like I'm this terrible person, but let me remind you... this dog was not meant to be mine in the first place. I KNOW shes going to act this way because she is a puppy, but the person who was supposed to keep this dog decided to leave her here and I'm sorry but I dont have time to take care of her. I am not going to crate this dog (to me that seems wrong I'm sorry) because I believe a dog should be able to run free.
I dont believe for one minute that a dog which is brought up outside is a bad dog, or that its wrong or abusive to leave a dog outside... its a dog! I would love to be able to spoil her rotten, and I would, but at this point my father wouldnt even let me keep her if I wanted to because he didnt want a dog in the first place. Just now my dad asked me if I'm taking her to the humane society, so hes going to make sure shes gone whether or not I want her gone or not. I am sad, I'm a mixture between sad and mad actually. I'm sad because I wish I could take care of her and watch her grow and learn, but I'm mad because I know I cant, and I know I can not provide her with the attention she needs. I am just as upset about this as many of you are. I didnt want a dog anyway because I knew I couldnt take care of it. I have tried, and I cant. I dont like leaving her home in the hot garage all day long and I dont want her to have to deal with that. She needs a good home where people can give her lots of attention. My dad has already called the Humane Society, he used to work there, and made them promise she would be taken care of. I trust that they will. I have to go now. ![]() |

The humane society will make sure she gets the proper home. They could do the best job because they know what to look for in potential owners. Just giving her away leaves room for too many bad owners to get her, and who knows what would happen to her.
She is still very young. As has been said before, she is very trainable at this time in her life. Crate training is not cruel and gives the dog a better chance at growing up well-trained. It would be the best thing to do if you were able to keep her. However, I think the humane society would be best. At the humane society, there would be people actually *looking* for a dog they wanted, and if you found a home for her instead, someone may just take her "because she's free", and most of us know how THAT can go.... Do not just give her away, especially NOT as an "outside dog". That just automatically locks her into a miserable life. Any dog can be a wonderful inside companion with enough love, attention, and training. |

I think it's a great idea to take her to the Humane Society - they will be able to adopt her out and screen potential adopters to make sure she gets a good home. That seems like the best solution.

I think I would take her to the humane society, if I were in your position. And IMO.. a crate is far less cruel then a hot garage.. sorry, but that's how I feel on that.
But yes.. I think the humane society is your best option. Giving her away as an outside dog is not a great thing to do. I wish her the best of luck. She deserves a great life. And I'm sorry you were put in that position, and with a dad unhappy about her as well. Makes things rough and stressful for everyone. |

Crate training is not a bad thing. It allows the puppy/dog to remain safe and teaches them not to chew, use the restroom inside, etc.. while you are gone. It makes it easier on the dog b/c that way he isn't get set up to act out.
IMO, leaving a dog in a hot garage is horrible. I might get bashed for saying this, but how is it really any different from a car? It gets very hot in there and unless you have circulation inside it could be just as deadly. A fan that could get knocked over doesn't seem safe to me either. A dog that is just left outside isn't taught how to socialize and I'm guessing many more things. IMO that is setting him up to act out as well. Besides that, how much human contact is a dog getting if just left outside? Not much. I'm not even going to touch the "just a dog" subject..... You kept talking about how this wasn't your dog to begin with, but for some reason the guy who originally owned it came to some conclusion it was okay to leave it with you. I'm glad you are going to turn it over to the rescue b/c they will take the time to look for the dog a good home instead of being frustrated with him for just being who he is. |

Well she is gone. She is at the Humane Society and promised to take care of her. Course, I used to work there so I know what its like behind closed doors so I balled my eyes out the entire way home. Either way I hope she is adopted by a great person who will take care of her.
I disagree with those of you who think the Humane Society is almost guarenteed to offer her a great place. There are just as many derilicts that go there as there are who take the time to find a free one. TRUST ME. Her odds there are the same as anywhere else really. All I can do now is hope shes adopted bya great person. They dont look into who the people are. There are people who adopt from there and bring the dog back the next day. Nothing with the Humane Society is guarenteed. Anyhow... I'm feeling really bad right now because every time I walk outside I see a chew toy and it breaks my heart. I gotta go... night everyone. |

I'm so sorry...If you wanted, maybe you could talk to the Shelter and ask them to let you know when she gets adopted and notifiy you if her time is running out.
I hope with all my heart that she finds a good home. (And with as cute as she is, and since she is a puppy, that shouldn't be to hard. ) |

Ya youre right. She was a cutie and she is a good puppy. I just miss her so much. I've caught myself crying off and on all day. Drives me crazy. I got attached. Ya theyve known us for quite a while us quite a while up there at the Humane Society, if she is running out of time they will tell us and give her back. I'm not worried about that.
I miss her to death... |

Well, if anything, she is out of the garage. She is at least out of the way so she can't get in trouble anymore. And also, at least she has a chance of being seen and getting a good home, one to where they would actually want her bad enough to pay for her. That's a lot better than just giving her away to any old person that couldn't be traced or tracked down later.
