We're getting started!

Magic and I are on our first leg of training in Fly Ball. She has to complete an Obed 2 course in reliable recall before we can get down to the fly ball training. That is scheduled for Jan 6, 2006. I'm really excited about her becoming involved with other dogs and being able to interact with a ball rather than just playing in the back yard. She is fantastic at retreval and I think she'll do fine in Fly Ball. We will have an evaluation of her body structure and a thorough vet check before she ever gets started but I'm really glad to have something to do with her that involves other people and dogs!

Welcome to the boisterous world of flyball!! Your Profile says that you are in North Central Michigan - depending on how far south your, or how far north my tournaments go - perhaps we will meet up some day!

Nick just competed in his first tournament in October. He ran in the warm-ups just to see how he would do in a trial setting, then in the last race on each day. Very exciting!! In two races, he got enough points to get his Flyball Dog Excellent Title - which isn't saying much since it doesn't take too many points to do that - but it does make him an official flyball dog!!

Have fun with your training. Sounds like you are off to a great start - a dog that likes to fetch balls should be crazy about flyball! You have probably already looked at the Flyball Dogs website, if not, they have detailed training tips that you could start with before/while you take your obedience class. The club we trained with used this method - perhaps yours does as well. I will look forward to seeing more posts from you!

Hi Nicks Buddy'

We are North and East of Big Rapids and as far as I know there are only teams in Ludington and in Midland as far as mid state are concerned. Too far for me to drive for training once a week. But I may try to get something started myself closer to home if I can get enough people interested in it.

Yes, I would say that's a bit of a drive for training once a week - hope you are able to get something going closer to home!!
