Well im hopefully getting Ivan his weight pull harness for Christmas... SO i was wondering when i first get it should i (heres my schedule)
![]() First Week- Put him in harness and play games etc Second Week- continue with "first week" but add alittle weight (milk carton and rocks) add in "pull" as he walks Third Week- continue with "first week(FW)" add more weight sand insead of rocks add in "pull" as he walks Forth week- still with FW but have him on ONLY THE CART and tell him pull Fifth- FW- put him onto cart in sit postion. Walk away and give comand "pull." WHen he gets to me (of course) pet and love him. Sixth Week- Add a tiny bit of weight on to cart and contine with FW and fifth week I will continue to add more and more weight, i wil be up to 5 pounds on the Sixth week along with the cart, is that too little? Should i add anything into my schedule? (week= at least 7 times a week) |

You should look up 'weight pull training' in google. There is a site called APBT Conformation (I think...or something similar anyway) and they have info about weight pull and how to train. It's a good site.
I can't post it here because it's got a forum...but it's easily found. Cass. |

I agree with Kaz... that would be a good start
Because if you go to a WP Club, you can talk to a lot of knowledgable people there to help you start Ivan along on his journey to become a weight pull dog ![]() |

DEFFINATELY get him checked out by a vet before anything. If he's predisposed to displaysia then this type of activity could make it worse or simply be very painful for him and speed the rate of displaysia.
Your schedual looks pretty good I'd say, deffinately not increasing more than 10-10Lbs/per week especially when you get into the heavier weights. Be sure not to over-work him either or work him so hard he gets bored of it. I mean doing weightpull every day can get quite tiresome and become "old news" fast. Also make sure to wait until he's 1 year old before starting and 2 years old before getting into the serious weights. |
