Novel Noise - Columbia MO, March 10th & 11th, 2007

Well, I'm just getting back from Missouri and have finally found some time to post how the weekend went! We had a great time in the warm weather... high 60's, and we all enjoyed a good deal of sun. My nose is a little red even! LOL!

But, without further delay, the results:

Saturday, March 10th

Whisper: Reserve Winners Bitch over 3 other bitches, including Spirit, but reserve to her littermate Trysta (Jewel's Secret Rendezvous).

Spirit: 2nd in her class of two. Just wasn't her day. She showed nicely, just wasn't what the judge was looking for.

Topper: Best of Opposite Sex to Lily (Ch. Cameo's Northland Silversmith) a very nice bitch we see often who has placed in group before.
Topper also had Rally, but his handler screwed it up for him. I had some major ring conflicts on Saturday and I wasn't able to do walk through before I had to compete and I missed a station earning us a big NQ. Sigh....

Elvis (Ch. Kaltrav's King of Rock): I had major conflicts, and so while I was in the Rally ring with Topper, Rus (Winjammin) took Elvis in for Breed for me and did an EXCELLENT job with him. The judge could not make up her mind on Best of Opposite Sex but finally decided on a yellow dog over Elvis.

Sunday, March 11th:

Ugh... we had the time change this morning and a ring time of 8AM!

Whisper: Reserve Winners Bitch to...

Spirit: Winners Bitch!! And not only that, she actually took Best of Winners for 2 more points!

Topper: Best of Breed! AND he qualified in Rally Advanced for his 2nd leg towards that title. One more to go. Group... which was 8 hours later, did nothing for us. Topper was tired, I was tired... but we did our best.

Elvis: Not what the judge was looking for. Next time!

So that was my weekend. I have this coming weekend off as I am the Trophy Chair for the obedience/rally trial my local all breed club is holding this weekend so I will be busy with that all weekend, but, the following weekend, the 24th and 25th I will be in Dubuque, IA!

I know nothing at all about dog shows, but it sounds like Topper and Spirit did just great!! Poor Elvis, I hope his ego wasn't hurt!

Sam, Rivsky and Cass - Thank you. We always have a great time showing, but of course, bringing home those purple ribbons is so very sweet.

PawsnClaws - Oh yes, Elvis is quite the handsome boy, and I so wish he would have taken some ribbons, but labs are so competitive!

BDL - I SO hope it works out! We show at 9:20am on both Sat and Sunday, and I would love the company! It'll just be Topper and the girls, nobody extra, so I'll actually have some free time.

calgal - You'd be amazed how many people showing don't know exactly how shows work, so no worry there. You should meet Elvis, he is just about the biggest cuddle bug loverboy there is. I don't think you could hurt his ego, much like his namesake, he's a gentleman and a lady's man, and a pleasure to watch show!

Rus - I'm so sorry Sunday wasn't better... you had me all hyped up after your Saturday! Thank you again. You were a natural with the big lug!

Sherilyn - I agree... Can't it be Dubuque already. I work midnights all this week and I really could just use some sleep!! The dogs are all rested up after their weekend and I haven't even started. Sigh...

Yes they are ! And he is. I love his look ; just what I think a Lab should look like. I seen their other boys as well, very nice looking labs !

I'll tell his owner you think so PawsNClaws. He's a happy papa now and his pups should be in the ring soon. There is a beautiful choc male, about 8 weeks old, that looks just like his dad!

Swiftwind, Thank you, we had another stellar weekend. I am definitely not complaining... and you are right, Elvis is new. He is not mine, but a friend of mine's. Here are a few pics of him. He is a finished champion already, and I will have the pleasure of showing him from time to time this year.

He is a big ol' lab with a heart of solid gold. Neither one of those pics really do him justice, he is just so much more massive than any of my kids. Topper may be taller than him, but Elvis has him beat in substance every time! But, they were made to do different things, so it's understandable.

The coat is what amazes me too. Elvis has this thick coat that you could get lost in. I'd never worry about him getting cold, for sure.
