Rep question

Okay just one question. I did a search on the answer but couldn't find it.

On my latest Rep Received thing on User CP, I have a greyish rectangle, not a green one.... My points haven't gone down and it wasn't for any kind of comment - it was just saying hi to a newbie. So what does it mean? Just interested.....

it means it was acknowledged neutrally, they didnt give you a negative rating...or a positive rating...

FWIJ, How can you do that? I only see a choice of approve or disapprove.

A long time ago it had it as an option...I thought QW took it out a while back....mine says approve or disaprove also, maybe only QW can do it.

Winged, I poked around a little and the "Display Reputation" box is marked "No". I'll click it to "Yes" and then maybe you will see comments.

I don't have any comments beside it.... I'm kinda lost.... But I'm not too worried about it, I just wanted to know what it was there for since there isn't a neutral option, just agree or disagree. It kinda threw me off.

I believe that a neutral rating is given by new members or members with negative reputation.

I gave you rep points for that debate?? I made a comment in your defense, but I didn't hit the rep button! Hmmm. Gremlins in the board?

actually, fireworksinjuly in semi-right.

You only get positive rep points if the personm giving them to you has power...you get power the more you're a member, the more posts you have, etc. A newbie will not have any power, as they have not been around long enough to get any power. Therefore, a newbie giving you rep will not count for or against you, thus making it neutral.
