Question Questions about Global Paw and forums in general

I have some questions about Global Paw and forums in general:
  1. Why was Global Paw chosen as the name for this site? I never would have discovered the site if I had not gone to a site giving a list of the Top 100 Pet Sites because there’s nothing in the name "Global Paw" which indicates it is about dogs! Wouldn’t "Global Dogs", "Global Canines" or "Global Woof" be better alternatives? I must add here that I do like the name Global Paw but I’d just be interested to know why a more obviously doggy name was not chosen for it!
  2. What date was Global Paw created? I’ve noticed that lots of the members are American – does that mean it’s an American site?
  3. Can members have their accounts deleted if they no longer wish to be part of the Global Paw community?
  4. I have often wondered what happens to all the posts, uploaded photos and other information on a forum if the site goes down suddenly – is everything lost?
  5. I am a member of several other pet-related forums and on some of them I have come across members who have been banned from the forums because they have accidentally broken one of the rules (I always carefully read the rules first before posting anything!) Is a member’s account deleted when he or she is banned from a forum?
  6. Global Paw seems to be very different from a chat room. Many of the chat rooms are risky and I stay clear of those but Global Paw and other animal-related forums seem to have an excellent standard of giving people a great experience whilst staying clear of anything trashy, and quickly deleting accounts when members break rules! What are Global Paw's views on the bad sort of chat room and can you explain the differences between a site like Global Paw and one of the chat rooms?

It was created by an American and all the owners since have been American and it is based on an American server, so yes it is American. However it is open to people from all over the world...like me, I'm from Australia. It is also not limited to American information, but that's simply because of its international members contributing to the site.

As a member of Global paw staff my opinions are not necessarily those of the website or the owner.
