"Reputation"?

Hey, I was wondering if anybody could tell me what Reputation points are?? They are in a box in the top corner of each post...along with some green blocks. What are these, and what do they do?? Thanks!

Somebody didn't like my "what would you do" thread. I clicked user CP, and the little gem next to my latest reputation was gray...Well, sorry, whoever didn't like it.

i have not seen that thread. anyways i am sure it was probobly just an opinion thing which in previous thread on this subjest, occurr alot.

The thread is in Dog rescue. It's a poll...I guess they didn't like the fact that I "stole" my dogs. It'll make more sense if you read it.

Gray reputation points (I think) are given by new members who want to comment, but don't have the "power" yet to make your reputation points go up or down. If you get a gray box thing, your point level says the same.

Red boxes are negative.
