What brand of food do you feed your dog?

Hey guys,

I was just wanting to know what brand of dog food you feed your dog(s).
I recently got a puppy, and I am debating between brands.
Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

- Raithe

Re:

Oh btw,

Sorry I forgot to mention this,
I am currently on the fence between a couple of brands.
One being Pedigree and the other being Taste of the Wild.
I'm more leaning towards Pedigree because of coupons I have for them.

Just thought I'd clarify!

Raithe, please check out the stickied topics at the top of our Dog Nutrition board: Dog Food, Dog Feeding, Dog Nutrition - Globalpaw.com Dog Forum That board is chock full of useful information on choosing the best food for your dog.

Pedigree is one of the worst quality foods you can buy, and I had to chuckle that you'd narrowed it down to that or one of the highly recommended brands. ;-) Check out the nutrition forum and then let us know if you have some more questions. The age and breed (or proposed size as an adult) are important consideration in what you feed your puppy, as well.

I personally feed Kirkland (Costco) brand lamb & rice kibble. It's moderate quality and very affordable ($23/40lbs). Two of my dogs do well on it, while my Yorkie does not. I will be feeding her a separate brand or mixing the Kirkland with a better quality food for her.

I home cook. Been doing it for it for 50 years and have never had a sick dog or one with medical problems.

I agree with what Tiny said.

I personally feed California Natural Lamb and Rice to my girl Chloe, and the older two dogs are fed Exceed Lamb and Rice.

The Exceed isn't one I would normally feed as the ingredients aren't my favorite, but my Lab was having skin problems and switching him to that brand cleared it up, suprisingly. It has more protien and fat in it than the other brand I was feeding did (Chicken Soup), so I think that had something to do with it.

A brand I used to feed was Pro Plan Chicken and Rice (had no complaints other than causing very flakey, dry skin - most likely won't feed again) and Blue Buffalo Chicken and Rice (Chloe had food allergies so it didn't sit well with her, but I would feed it again).

I feed a raw (BARF) diet.

But if I were to feed a dried, it would be either Artemis or Eagle Pack Holistic.

I feed taste of the wild. Pedigree is junk food for dogs. And you have to understand that if you feed the more quality foods you will actually be using less food therefore saving you money. They will also be healthier saving you $ at the vets.

I had been feeding Bianca Orijen dog food but my vet thinks she has a chicken allergy so I switched to NOW Grain Free. I also give her a partially raw diet (JJ Fudds duck premade raw) so some days she gets the NOW and some she gets raw.

Pedigree is like feeding your kid Froot Loops for every meal...yuck. Full of corn, fillers, and artificial coloring.

We feed 4-Life Chicken formula and home cooked. I personally would not feed Pedigree or any brand you can find at Walmart , but with saying that, I do have an exception to that rule due to a very picky eater. We have an old rescue who will not eat anything except for Purina Puppy Chow (we tried some of the best foods on the market, some for seniors, only for him to turn up his nose) ....Purina just works for him I guess LOL
