I hate squirrels!!!!
We don't have any squirrels in our yard at all, but sometimes in the past when I have walked Jasmine in the woods we came accross a squirrel.
Usually in the woods she has been offleash and I just let her chase it up a tree, and when she was done I would call her back to me. Well, obviously this was a big mistake. We have tons of squirrels by the office, and she comes to work with me quite a bit. Now everytime we go on a walk at work and a squirrel runs by she about flips. Usually I tell her "leave it" and we keep on walking, but today it is really slippery outside, REALLY SLIPPERY!!! And the squirrels seem to be out in FULL force, so each time we go out she forgets to "leave it" and I about fall over trying to keep her under control. Earlier I felt like I was dogsledding as she pulled me down the sidewalk on the ice. She is usually pretty good about ignoring things I tell her to, but squirrels are her weak point. |

dogs love 'em! i was babysitting the sweetest, most docile, 35 lb paraoh hound mix. on one of our walks, my arm was nearly yanked out of its socket and i was pulled, without being able to stop, for at least two blocks when she saw that squirrel cross her path.
she was back to her own sweet self afterwards, not showing any of the super dog strength she seemed to have acquired and looked at me ever so innocently.... otherwise, i hate squirrels who dig in my flowerbeds. they're worse than any dog. |

I feel for you, MrsGrubby, trying to hold on to a dog who has his mind set on something. It's amazing how much strength they can muster when they have to (big dogs or small). Luckily you did fall and hurt yourself.

Yup, squirrels have that affect! We have a black walnut tree in our front yard which means we have loads of squirrels! Farley & Chloe feel their main purpose in life is to try to catch them! Luckily so far they haven't been successful.

I have rabbits in my yard....and gods help them if one of the dogs actually catches up with them! I understand about the squirrels...it's almost like they are teasing the dogs!! *they hide in their tree laughing at us humans*

Oh my gosh Anaconda, what a story. I had to laugh, but it's not a bit funny, but yet it is almost amazing and funny still.
I just can't picture anything like that happening. It's like a pack of deer attacking a deer hunter or something. |
