Unhappy I'm just sick about it
Well this week, I went over to help my girlfriend,who is a groomer, at her shop. As she was starting to take down the first dog she noticed that he had severe lice, so she called the owner to pick him up and we had to shut the shop down to disinfect from a to z ( took us two days). Anyways today I went back to help her catch up on the overload of dogs that had been rebooked only to find out from her that the owners of the dog with lice had him put downbecause of it.
I still can't believe it....I'm just sick to my stomach over it...poor little guy it wasn't his fault he had lice.
Have any of you guys heard of such a thing? Would there be a valid reason to pts a dog with lice?
What's even crazier is that they brought him to the vet as soon as we had called him and the vet had given them a product to use, only to go back later and have him put to sleep.

Sorry I'm rambling...I'm just so upset.

What ??? Thats bazzar- how in the world could a person be so crule and over lice. My gosh that could of been treated- Hope they dont have kids , what would they have done if one of them got lice. I am speachless and so angry, people like that shouldn't have had the honer of owning a dog. Makes me so angry ...

I cant believe the vet did it. Wow who the heck does something like that for such a easily curable issue. That chaps my freakin hide!!! Grrr...

NO WAY!?!
My three year old just started preschool and lice goes around primary schools all the time- we are always getting notes sent home to do another lice check!
Well if trwo shampoos was too much for them- imagine what that dogs life was like

Just when you think you've heard it all. This is really upsetting. Too many unfeeling people in this world and it makes me wonder which one they really came from!!!!!

As a matter of fact, they do have kids...2 of them . As the day ended the fellow did come in to bring back my girlfriend's crate ( the one the little guy was in ) and confirmed it, saying that he and his wife just couldn't take the chance with kids and all.
Didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make sense to me now. Heck, the poor thing was just covered in them so he must have had them for awhile.
I'm assuming the fellow was probably very insistent to have the dog pts , I just don't know what else to believe about this....it's just sick.
I just needed to check with you guys to see if there could have been a reason for their decision...from the posts, I can see that you guys reacted the same as me, WHAT?
I just pray the poor little pup has a better life in puppy heaven.

They probably just didn't want to go to the trouble of dealing with the dogs problem. Such an easy fix too, I mean it's not like the dog had some sort of crippling disease. Just lice is all. *sigh* It makes me want to cry when I hear stories like that.

What I'm surprised at is a vet who would actually put the dog down because of that. Any vet around here will only euthanize if the dog has lost it's quality of life, not because the owners just don't "feel" like dealing with lice.

So not only am I questioning the motives of the owners, but what self-respecting vet would do something like that?

I thought the same thing....it's really bothers me,you have no idea , I think of him( the puppy) all the time. Go figure I'd be so upset about this. I don't know why he didn't try the human society....maybe they wouldn't take him either...I don't know.
The whole situation just sucks.
