too cold
I just took Wesley on a walk around the house and we have about 2in. of snow and for the first few minutes he was fine with the snow, but then all of a sudden he kept not wanting to walk on his paws anymore, and he kept picking them up and walking on three paws and he kept switching which one he would hold up in the air...were his paws just really cold? or what? Then it took him like triple the time to go the bathroom because he would not stop hopping on three paws...then finally we were ready to come back in and i had to carry him into the house becasue he did not want to walk on his paws...so then we came inside and he keeps doing circles around the house, running as fast as he can...i think he is trying to warm up, but it is really funny
But, I was thinking so that this doesn't happen again, should I get him some of those "doggie boots" like they have a petco or petsmart? Thanks!![]() |

That's so funny! I saw a lab guide dog the other day walking his blind master and doing the exact same thing! I don't know if their feet really get THAT cold but if it were me I'd probably get him some booties because I'm a suck about the cold, too!

You could try boots.. I'm thinking about them for one of my pugs who seems to be very sensitive to the cold. If it's too cold or he's on ice somewhere in the yard, he'll moan and hold a paw up and not move.. I have to help him, it's too hard on him. So far so good this winter, hasn't been too terribly cold/icy yet.

Tippy has a similar problem, but the thing is, since she has long fur on her legs, she gets snow stuck and then it freezes into little balls lol. I have to clip the fur between her paw pads so no snow gets stuck on her paws.

I think I'll get him the "doggie boots" for Christmas! I was trying to think of something to get him and I think doggie boots are perfect! (with some special treats too of course, LOL)

I think what Gaddy says is the main thing...those little ice crystals and balls bug them. But as far as cold, apparently, from what I've read, dogs pads/paws won't get frost bite...something about the marvelous circulation. But if he likes booties, why not? LOL.

I do know that the salt that some people use can irritate their feet. I know it really bothers Jasmine to walk on the salt, like it burns or stings or something. They have been advertising a product here that is supposed to be dog friendly.
