B-r-r-r-r...it's cotton pickin cold!
B-r-r-r...I just got back from a brisk walk with just Lyric. It's about 15 degrees and was around 0 last night. It was a quick, 1/2 hour walk, after visiting the little corner store here...needed some more wrapping stuff and found some cute moose-bear jammies for my daughter, Emily.
I left the engine running for Lyric while I went in, but then thought it was wasting gas so after a few minutes I turned it off, but then thought....it gets too chilly in the car for him. So...to make a long story less long.....Lyric gets to come inside while I shop if he does a nice, long down-stay on the rug by the door. There's a wood stove right there close to the door and he gets treats and pats so he doesn't mind waiting. They're pretty tolerant and dog lovin' around here. Just about everyone loves and is interested dogs and most are not 'Dober-predjudice.' So, I found a couple of things for my Dad and something to add to Emily's stuff. The only time he broke the down stay was when I came back near him, (hadn't released him) and a guy walked by at the same time with some beef jerky and one of those pepperoni sticks unwrapped. LOL. Otherwise, he was a pretty good boy and waited while I shopped. Everyone loves Lyric down there and he eats up the attention. Now we're home and it's nice to get out of the cold. It's getting down there where it starts to hurt your face. LOL. (those aren't zzzz's. That's the steam rising off me. LOL) |

Oh! boy do I know what you were feeling...we had a balmy high of -22C today with a windchill. So our walk went rather quickly to say the least....it wasn't the usual stop and sniff walk
![]() It sure is nice to have a warm home to come to! |

It's been pretty nippy around here.. our lowest low so far was 5. Not terribly pug friendly, so we've curtailed a lot of walks for now. They settle for a few runs around the yard. My older pug, Oscar, fluffs up just like a bird when he goes out to potty in the cold. He'll stand at the door waiting to come in, all fluffy. He LOOKS like he got made/upset whatever.. but he's not. He just fluffs up. LOL

That sounds sooo cold! It's not that cold here, but it's damp and foggy. No wind is always nice, too.
I also just got home from a trip to the store. Tia just waits in the car with her nest of blankets. My evil, demonic, demon possessed car died on me on this very steep short little hill, on the way home. I finally got it started, but it was scarey! Very dark and with power brakes and power steering, I'm pretty much dead in the water! Good thing I bought a bottle of wine...I feel a little better now! Do you have a woodstove so you can sit and watch the fire? I always feel toasty just looking at one. We need to get some more firewood, we're almost out! I guess I could just wear a shock collar. It wouldn't keep me warm, but it might stop me from griping about it. Weah-ZAP!...Weah-ZAP! ![]() |

I'm up in Morton, WA, right now and will be going home tomorrow; been here since Friday. Brought Mazie with me and we're staying with my best friend and his wife and we had about 7 inches of snow here...so Mazie finally got to play in it. It's about 30 F right now and there's only about an inch of snow left... I took lots and lots of pictures of Mazie in the snow, and I will hopefully post some of them tomorrow and enter one in the contest.

Carrie, I can relate. cold here too.
Took Jasmine for an hour walk at 7am this morning. Trying to tire her out as I am picking up two foster puppies later today. Anyway, about froze my cheeks off, and not the ones on my face. |

Ditto, freaking freezing up here as well. It's been around -13c but with the windchill it's down to around -15 or so... which in Farenheight is around 5f. Arn't I nice to convert?
lmao, just kidding...Awww you've got such a good trained boy, Carrie! I bet you were mighty proud of him. ![]() |

It's really cold here in Iowa as well. In the past two days, we've had high temps of 5 degrees, and lows around 0- -5. This morning I came to work in -5 degree temps after an overnight low of -12!!
The poor Corgis have to drag their bellies through the cold cold snow, stop long enough to do their business and come straight back to the door with snowy, icy bellies. Poor Phantom is still not tall enough to keep his um...."appendage" out of the snow, so he REALLY moves fast!!! LOL Congrats on your shopping trip Carrie!! It's always nice to hear of fun trips like that for the pups. ![]() |

Thanks Tiff and Winjammin. Yes, I thought Lyric was pretty good...not Mr. Perfect or Mr. Reliable, but pretty good. He tries really hard. But that pepperoni was a little too much for him to bear. He almost got it out of the guy's hand too as he walked by. ROFL. I would have had a hard time making excuses for my boy. "Well, sorry buddy. You know...boys will be boys." LOL. I just uttered the sound, "eh! leave it" under by breath. And he retreated.
Yes, those Corgi tummies must get chilly. That's what bothers the Chi's the most if they get into too deep of snow. Tiffany...you're so smart to be able to convert. I would have to find a chart. I never can keep it straight. So, it's really cold there too, I see. It is really similar here. Last night....5 below. Today just a little above 0 F. And there should be 5-10 mph winds on top of it. I like it, but you do have to bundle up. The Chi's aren't too into the walks when it's that cold, so they opt to stay home a lot of the time. I leave it up to them. Lyric will go for a run no matter what. He wore his bomber jacket yesterday, but I can't make a hat stay on his head....tried one of my wool ones which ties under the chin...thought it would look cute. But he had other ideas and pawed it right off. Grrrrr. Gotta find something for those ears. So, I see lots of you are getting into the thick of winter. And a few are basking in the sun on some wonderful beach with white sand and mint julips. (sp?) A-h-h-h-h-h. How nice. But this snow sure is pretty. |

Oh I wish I was smart enough to convert! The whole temperature conversion thing makes me cross-eyed, so I use a temperature converter. It just makes life so much easier for me, alot of forums and people I talk to online are from the States, so I'm constantly converting from Metric to Imperial and visa versa to understand what people are saying!
This is the converter I use. Makes life simple! |
