What are some good toys that makes your dog use their brain?
I am trying to find some sort of puzzle toy or something that will keep Rocky busy while in the crate. Any links to things would be appreciated!

let's work
|
for using their brains....
I love, really love the "Nina Ottosson" games.
Like the "Dogsmart", the "dogbox" the "Trigger" and so on. she has really fun games, where the dogs actually have to use their brains, these games can't be played unsupervised. but they are really so much fun. Or sniffing games, nosegames thay are fun too and the dog needs to think.... |

I found the greatest toy in the world...the IQube! It is a plush cube with four squeaky balls that go inside it. The cube has holes on each side so the dog can get the balls out. Joules LOVES it! She gets the balls out of the cube then plays with them for a bit then plays with the empty cube. I found it at petfooddirect.com and it is ~$10 US. Best $10 I have ever spent!

The IQube looks like it would be a good toy for my cattle dog. I'm always looking for something that she has to "think" about. How is it though as far as chewing on it? Once she gets the balls out I'm just wondering if she'll chew it up. She's not a big chewer, but she'll chew on her food dish. |

I would say if your dog has a habit of destroying plush toys then 1) this may not be the best toy and / or 2) just keep an eye on them and take it away when destructive behavior starts. |

I dont crate my dogs but they are like shadows to me. SO what I have done is made home videos for them of their favorite toys talking to them and me talking with them and they sit for a long long time watching me. Plus its great fun to do and you can reuse the tapes or CD's. Thats if your dog likes Tv, even if they dont Im sure they would if Mommy or Daddy were the star!

Bailey loves any treat ball. She can figure out how to open all of them. I bought her a football that she was supposed to nose around to get the treats to fall out. She picked up an end and shook it until the treats were all out, ate them, and then played with the football. I don't think the treat balls that the dog is supposed to nose around will work in a crate. I don't think there would be enough room. Frozen kongs and stuffed marrow bones would be a safe bet. Supervise the marrow bones if your pup is a hard chewer.
