Due in December!
|
Hmmm, I'm one of those cornballs who doesn't think that any gift is bad, so long as it's from the heart. I honestly can't think of a bad christmas gift I've recieved.
Hmmmm... Although I do know of a birthday one... The guy I was dating at the time (had been for around 2 years or so) completley forgot my birthday. We were working on oppositie shifts at the time, so he phoned me on his last break that night, and I was like 'Uh? You know it was my birthday, right?'. He claimed that he did, but you could totally tell by his voice that he had forgotten. I was dissapointed, for his birthday I had gone all out and gotten him everything he needed for an aquarium (he loved fish). I didn't do that so I would get the same treatment back, but when you make an effort of remembering someone, it's nice to be remembered as well. A card, ANYTHING would have been nice! Even a Happy Birthday Hug! Anyways... So I was at home and he came in, and hands me this shopping bag from the local drug store that was right beside our place. I look in it and there's a stuffed gorillia holding a heart saying "I love You". My birthday is right before Valentine's Day. I wish I could say that it was the thought that counted, but there wasn't even any thought in that. First of all, I don't like Gorillias. He knows that. Second of all, the reciept was still in the bag! LOL! So I was like "Well... at least he tried...." until he tried to convince me that he had bought that awhile ago and was trying to pshyce me out in thinking that he had forgotten. Meanwhile the reciept showed that he had bought it not even an hour earlier. Idiot. Moral of this story: If you forget, fess up and just roll with the punches. Don't try to be lame and pretend like it was your plan all along. We didn't last too long after that. I started noticing that I was the only one putting in an effort for things. Nice, eh? Sorry it's not a christmas gift story, but it's a gift story all the same! ![]() |

Hmmmm... I can't think of a Christmas either, but I can think of a birthday one too...
So, It was my 7th birthday and I was opening presents and then my sisters(who are both older than me) brought out this HUGE box that is all wrapped up really nice and everything...so then I got really excited because I had been wanting theis HUGE stuffed animal, so I immediately thought that it was that, so I opened it and there was tons of tissue paper, so I kept throwing all this tissue paper out til I got to the bottom...I had not found anything in the box yet...so then I looked and at the bottom they had taped a penny! I was like Wow! You got me a PENNY! It was really disappointing at the time, but now I look back on it and it was pretty funny ![]() |

I had a twit for a boyfriend (3 yrs wasted on that one), and one christmas he got me this awful pink, frilly blouse. I mean it was like all sorts of poofy at the arms.. was supposed to be western (fine and dandy, I'm a western kind of girl), but this was TACKY. I saw that and knew there was no way I was going to wear that anywhere.. I wouldn't even put it on, in a closet, it was so tacky. We later broke up, and that blouse went to good will.

ROFLOL!!!!! I can't help it! That is such a crack up! OMG. I loved dolls when I was a kid...I had that maternal instinct going on when I was a toddler. LOL. My worst gift....I can't remember if it was a b-day or Xmas gift though...was this cheap, sickeningly sweet perfume from a bf. I hate over powering, heavy, sweet perfume. Isn't that mean? I had to say demurely, "Oh, how nice, thank you." LOL. Then I gave it to my daughter and told her she could only spray it and wear it outdoors. LOL. I had to edit this. I'm still laughing soooooo hard, my stomach hurts. Pugdawg, what is it about these bf's? Wasted three years on that one! ROFLOL. It's really depressing when you think about 2 yrs here, 3 yrs. there. OMG! I thought I had math anxiety. Now I know I do. ![]() |

I have one that I'll never forget. It was an engagement ring from my ex-husband. It was also my Xmas present.
When we talked to his parents over the phone on Xmas, (we were in FL. they were in S.D.) and I told her about the beautiful engagement ring I got she said she was worried it wouldn't make it there in time for Xmas. I ask her where it came from and she said she had mailed it out. I ask who picked it out and she said he gave it to another girl that he was engaged to and after a few months, she gave it back to him!! Now how tacky is that? |

OMG Calgal! ROFLOL! That is really tacky. No wonder she gave it back. He must have had some redeaming qualities though or you wouldn't have married him, right? LOL.

I've gotten gifts over the years that weren't exactly something I would ever wear or really liked but to me, its the thought behind the gift that matters so I can't really say I've ever gotten a "bad" gift.

You're right Sonja. I am such a *****! It is the thought that counts. Of course, Calgal, Pugdawg and a few others and I are having second thoughts about some of those thoughts.
LOL. |

We haven't really done gift exchanges in a while... just little things here and there... so I'm speaking from past experiences:
Luckily, my close family and friends have excellent taste; or just know what suits me. I've never had problems with anyone's gifts. Except one.... My sister has always been the best, hands down, about picking me out perfect presents. We're only a year apart, so we've turned out to be best friends. She knows me so well, and has always known what to get me that nobody else had thought of yet. Well, one Christmas many, many years ago, she presented me with a huge wrapped box. I was so eager to see what it was that time. Until I opened it to find a horrid metal and jeweled frog statue staring menacingly up at me. It was as tall as my knees, and wider than both my legs put together. It's hands were formed into some kind of grip that looked like it was choking an imaginary something. It was awful. Yes, I adore frogs. Yes, I have little frog statues and stuffies and pictures here and there (still). But I would never have liked this particular frog statue. She claims she saw it and immediately thought it was perfect for me. I appreciated the sentiment, but this was a huge shock coming from my sister, queen of gift giving. I exchanged it. And so as not to disappoint her, I got a hanging frog ornament (which I still have as decoration in one of my rooms) instead, to stick with her original theme. I wish I had a picture of that frog, so you all could gasp at it's terribleness. ![]() |

I do believe that it's the thought that counts, but I'm just wondering what exactly my hubby was thinking on our first Christmas spent together in our cozzy little apartment.
Honey, I love you...just in case you are reading this. But really, a Dustbuster!? What were you thinking? “lol” I still poke fun at him for giving me a dustbuster on our first Christmas together. ![]() |
