How do YOU spoil your dog?
I thought of this thread while I was preparing Axa's meal. As I diced her salami I said to her "Geez dog you are so SPOILED" This made me wonder, how do you spoil your dog?
I dont mean buying designer dog toys and fancy gourmet biscuits(although if you do feel free to express it in this thread), but the "little" things we do for our furbabies that would make the average pet owner go "why, its just a dog". It could be anything, special one on one times, little games we often play with them....anything! I guess I'll start with how I spoil Axa. Every morning at 9:00, Axa and I have breakfast. We sit down on the couch and share tidbits of my food as we watch the morning news. Our daily excerise consists of a 1/2 mile walk and a 20 minute game of fetch in the park. For supper Axa eats her regular dog food....with the exception of diced salami, chopped garlic, yogurt and any dog friendly left overs I might have on hand. At night we snuggle on the couch and watch movies while sharing popcorn......and eventually fall asleep together. She does not get fancy toys or special "treats", I dont dress her up, she has no designer collar or leash....but all in all I would say she is a pretty spoiled girl. I am not talking about the occasional "special thing" that we do for our dogs, I mean what we do for them on a regular basis to show them our love and dedication. I must also add, Axa spoils me in return with her unsurpassed loyalty, devotion, and unspeakable love. Its a win-win kinda' thing ![]() |

Yup! my guy is spoiled in more way that one! In the morning, my husband always saves his last piece of toast and jam for Shadow. I way too often, spruce up his kibble with cooked veggies or bits of left over meat, salmon juice , whatever I have on hand. If I'm eating an apple or other piece of fruit Shadow get about a third of it
![]() I am also my dogs mattress!!! If I'm sitting down, he must be on my lap.... it's quite funny too cause if I'm busy cleaning the house he will follow me around with that look " come on Mom sit down , will ya...I need a nap!!" How can you not spoil someone who loves unconditionally? |

My kids are definately spoil to the core. I dress up there meals. I make sure Fallon has her little sweater on during the cold. I juice Lucky (LOL). Heck it took me two weeks to get him back from his kidnapper. Most of my friends were like why bother its just a dog. I give Fallon zerberts on her belly. I run around the yard like a dork playing chase and fetch with all three. I'm sure my nieghbors get a big kick out of it. Okay so I do a LOT more but I can't think of it right now.
Spoiling my Kids is FUN! |

I now cook for my girls, they never have to beg for attention because I give it to them all the time, they go with me everywhere possible and even some places that they really aren't supposed to
, they have a daddy who spoils them rotten, (Azrael's a daddy's girl) and we cuddle them when we watch TV. I do much more, but don't know if it would fall into "spoiling". |

Rocky is fairly spoiled. Lately he is starting to Pug his way in to the bed for sleepy times. I let him have two toys in the bed so he can occupy himself if need be. But I make sure that he has nights in the crate too that way if Daddy and Mommy need some "grown up", time, he won't be to bummed out.
![]() I also give him a decent amount of treats, but he has to earn them, even if it's just a sit. He gets lots of pets and lovin, and one of his favorite spots is on my lap with a bone in his mouth ![]() |

Spoiled? Abbie? Of course not! haha.
Let's see, she's spoiled because; I won't get rid of the papason chair because she loves to sleep in it Ditto to the couch. Its horrid looking. Its from the 60's and falling apart. As long as Abbie loves it, it stays. I made her up her own bedroom that has a doggie door to her own private fenced area. In her bedroom, she has a loveseat, pull out matress/bed, some plants, carpeting, a doggie water fountain, a doggie treat dispenser. AND I decorated it doggie themed; photo's of famous dogs on the walls, dog themed curtains on the windows, a doggie throw on her couch, a pillow with her name on it. I cut up food to add to her kibble. I buy her spring water while the cats and I drink tap. Not to mention, I buy her toys and treats constantly, even if she rarely/never touches any of the toys. It makes me feel like a good mom to have them laying around so she has the option of playing. Also, she can get away with leaving those bones and toys around the house and should I stumble or fall or step on them, I do not get mad. If I trip over something of my family's or the cat's, I generally get mad and kick it to the side. But if its Abbie's I put it in her special basket that I keep all her toys in. |

Hmmm...yesterday I cooked up some chicken for lunch and cooked up more than I normally eat so that Jesse could have some, even though he already had a bowl full of dog food. He sleeps on what was once my favourite cushion, but since he took a liking to it I put it on the floor so he could sleep on it. He has his own bedroom with a large two seater lounge, a basket, a blanket and a kids arm chair to sleep on every night. Today he'll get a few prawns for lunch because that's what I'm having. On top of that, he's the centre of attention every day and I'm always planning on what I'll get 'him' for xmas when I haven't even thought about anyone else.
![]() LOL Nah, he's not spoiled at all. ![]() Cass. |
