Lack of stimulation

Ok...so wussssss-up? Is everyone super busy just because it's almost Christmas? Or is this my imagination? Does it seem slow to you here on GP the last couple of days? I'm beginning to have mild withdrawl symptoms. I can't handle that and trying to quit smoking all at once.

I was wondering how the quitting smoking was going.

Yes, it's a little quiet around here. Everyone must be out doing their last minute shopping. I'm going to do mine today.

If you're feeling edgy without the smokes, we can always start a new debate thread!

Me, I'm going to take the advice you PM'd me about drinking soy milk to help my "mid-life" condition.

Thanks!

I think with the holidays everyone is getting their last minute gifts done, many have family already in town or like me their unlucky enough to have to work overtime during the holidays.

I haven't quit smoking yet, waiting for my days off to do it so I can be at home where no one else smokes. Less temptation for the first few days. lol

I am on and off again smoking. Darn concerts got me stressin and smokin, but I have yet to buy another pack so we'll see. I had quit completely for a few months but...

As far as the other topic. I have noticed a slight drop in people visiting here or leaving thier mark. I know in the next few days I will be on only late night Im sure, cause of family things.

Wishing everyone the best...

I'm so busy I don't know what I'm doing right about now. Had to take a break. Made more zucchini bread, a strawberry cake, a pumpkin pie, finishing up my sewing for the pupsters and now must get back downstairs to sweep and mop, pack up all the things I've baked to take tomorrow, give dogs a bath then put clean sheets on our bed (stripped the bed this am) color my hair, take a shower, get a glass of wine and crash. Were leaving around 9 in the morning. Our son from San Diego will be here tonight. He's going up to Morgan Hill with us to stay till the 26th, then my son will bring him back here to Lompoc where his wife is staying with her parents and they will go back to San Diego together. Hubby and I will go to the Moss beach distillery on the 26th for lunch and hopefully see their ghost, the blue lady. Then on to Bodega Bay to spend the rest of the day and stay overnight. I'm taking the lap top so I can keep everyone updated on the little trip.
Just think of all the nice stories and pictures we all are going to hear and see when when Christmas is over and eveyone is either back home or has rested up. I can't wait to see everyones pictures and hear all about what all happen, who said what and so on and how the pupsters all handled everything and maybe got lucky and go a little turkey or ham. Pictures please.
Everyone please take it easy if your traveling. There are too many folks out there driving after starting their celebration early with the alcohol. We aren't much for drinking (a little wine here and there or a good ol "margie") and NEVER do we drive if we had even 1 small glass of wine. Not worth taking chances at hurting anyone or yourselves. Have a great time everyone!

Oh I see. Everyone's busy! What a suprise. LOL. Calgal, your whole post is very interesting; the ghost, all the neat things you've made, your trip. It all sounds wonderful....can't wait to hear how everything went.

Thanks RBWs! So far, so good...10 days. It's not that bad once you get past the first 3 or 4 days...well, you still get those urges, but it gets easier. Sonja...good idea. I dread the fact that my daughter is coming. I mean, I'm glad she's coming for a visit, but she is smoking. She started to quit, but didn't so I have that to contend with. But when the time is right, everyone who wants to quit will.

Jamila...I'm like you I think about the having to buy a pack. I have to come out even so that I have no more cigerettes in the pack when I go to bed at night. I have to have all night to get as much out of my system as possible so I can quit in the morning...and I can't throw any away...impossible. So if there are any left, I'll smoke 'em. So, finally after thinking on this, getting psyched up, I worked on making the pack I was on come out even so it would be my last pack and no more excuses. LOL.

Well, you all have a great Xmas and we'll have to report back when we're not so busy anymore. I won't be busy till tomorrow, I guess. I'll start cooking a few things. So in the meantime, I've got that song going round and round in my head.....All by myself, don't wanna be....all by myself anymore. When I was young...da da da da di da da dum.....la la la... Ok enough.

LOL. You are probably the busiest person on GP. Forget that....on the Internet. Wow! Well, your lovely honeymoon ought to do the trick. It will be wonderful. I think it's kind of neat that you're getting married during the holidays....such a lot to celebrate and at such a happy time. Best wishes.

So...I can see you won't be around too much during the next......well, however long the "honeymoon" lasts.....5 years, at least. LOL.

I'm doing good with no smoking...I don't know what we are going to do when we have our next GP gathering. Carrie and I will chewing our fingernails watching RBW. My new habit is tootsiepop suckers. It really helps when I want a smoke so bad. I can tell I need a sucker when I get up, walk around the house once, sit down, get up and open the fridge...nothing looks good so I go sit down, get up....go for another lap around the house...all in 5 minutes...
It's all good, I think I'm actually going to make it this time. I wiped out the car and febreezed it 7 days in a row and threw the butt cans away that I keep on the deck. I had a horrible day at work today and I was offered a smoke but I turned it down and did a couple of laps around the terminal to calm down. Everyone has been calling me Fidget at work lately. I can't sit still for 5 minutes anymore!

Fireworksinjuly: I hope you have a lovely wedding and honeymoon!

*******
Good luck at those of you trying to quit smoking! Luckly, I've never smoked in my whole life and I never ever plan to. It's easier to quit if you never start, right? I just give congrats to you that are trying to quit, since smoking is so bad for you, the people you are around, and your pets.

*******
I haven't been on as much lately because of school work and Basketball...when you have practices at five o'clock (which means just enough time to run home and get changed after school) till 7:15, and then you don't get home till about 8:00, and then you have finals to study for...it kinda cuts down on the "what you want to do" time.
And I can't believe it is only two days till Christmas! Sadly, I'm probably not as excited as I should be, but maybe it jsut hasn't sunk in yet...who knows.

I wish everybody a Merry Christmas and safe traveling!

I'm so proud of all of your for quitting smoking! Just think, since you havn't had cigarettes, you are officially non-smokers! Yay!

I cloistered myself away from everyone during the first few months that I quit smoking. I also quit drinking coffee and alcohol because they went so well togeather. I think everyone was kinda glad to have me away from them.

No smokes + No coffee + No Alcohol made Tiffany a dull girl.

Heh.. sorry, can you tell I just watched The Shining last weekend? :P

I remember someone told me that you'll always crave the smokes. I was like "What's the point in quitting then?" But no one told me that it's nowhere NEAR the cravings you get when you're an actual smoker. It's like eating chocolate, and wanting a glass of milk to drink with it. It'd be nice, but it's not "OH MY GOD I NEED THAT MILK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!"

keep us updated on the progress. I'll be all of your personal cheerleader to keep you going!

Thanks Ritz and Tiffany. Good goin' Barrett! Yeah! You guys...that's so nice to offer your support. I always smoked out on my porch or outside, never in around the animals. I hate the way it smells up a house. It's just gross, but soooo addictive.

I'm glad those of you who never smoked are smart enough to never start. It's definitely easier to quit if you don't smoke. LOL. It's funny. I was always sooooo adamant about never trying any drugs, never even experiemented with pot once...never messed with alcohol when I was young. (I do now. LOL. No...a couple beers when I go out...that's it) So, why would I have gotten into cigerettes I ask myself. That was so dumb.

Well, anyhow, yes Barrett. It will be a challenge getting around smokers. I'm fearing this visit from my daughter. I need all the cheer leading there is to be had. LOL. We'll just have to get after RBW and when she hits that "ready" spot which you psyche yourself up to just prior to the decision, she'll have us there to support her....and anyone else who decides to quit. It's really not as hard, once you start to stop (lol) as you build up in your mind before beginning to commense to start to stop.

I think everyone is different about the ongoing cravings. I know people who quit many years ago who do still think they'd like to have a smoke after dinner or with a drink. But I know people too, who don't still have that craving. When I quit once for 6 whole months, I did not care a hoot about having a cigerette...completely lost the desire for one. And then soon after my divorce, when I had a few glasses of wine in a karaoke place, a cute guy was smoking these cigar/cigerette things and I flirted with him in a silly voice, "Ooooo I want one of those." Well, so there it started again. Good grief. Alcohol does wreck your judgement, so it's better to keep that to a dull minimum. It's just so easy to start back up again once you have one even. So, good luck to all.

And merry Xmas to all of you!
