Question To rescue or not to rescue?

The Husky that is running around my house, should I should I not rescue him? None of the rescues that I've contacted will come get him.
I'm thinking about rescuing him & finding him a home.

What is your view on this situation.

Does he have a chip, tattoo or anything? I would check that out first and yes I would take him in at least until you know there is no owner. Then I would call huskey rescue places to see if they will take him in, if not then I would rehome him.

I personally would take him in, take him to the vet, have him checked over thoroughly, and then if you don't want him, contact a sibe rescue and either give him to them or foster him until he finds a home.

I have contacted several rescues. They all say that they don't pick up dogs.

He DOES NOT have an owner. He has no collar or tags. He's unneutered!

Just because he has no collar or tags does not mean he has no owner. He could have a micro chip or a tattoo (tattoo's are either in the ear or the left/right flank- inside thigh) You may have to really look to see a tatty cause they can fade, I can barely see Junior's but if I look close I can read it and its on the left flank....Just because a dog has no ID does not mean it has no owner, maybe the collar was removed and dog escaped out of the yard, could be many reason's. You can advertise on window's, paper, radio for found huskey. How can you be sure that there is no one missing him juts because he has no ID. If Tiva (she is spayed but no tattoo - section spay) went missing with out a collar she would have no ID at all, I would be very thankfull for the person who took their time to help her find her way back home.

Have you contacted huskey rescues at all? Or even call a huskey breeder they can always point you in the right direction if not take the dog themselves. But either way I would take the dog to the vet to have it checked for these.

I'd take him in, put an ad in Lost and Found in the newspaper and put flyers up in your neighborhood. He needs care until you find his owner or a owner.

If it were myself, I would do like was said. Get the dog, get it scanned, if no chip (or tattoo), call the local newspaper. The paper here places FOUND ads for free. If that fails to find an owner, then see about getting him a good home.

Yes,like I've said before,I've contacted (all of them Husky rescues) rescues. All of them have said that they won't come pick up a dog.

Our paper charges $85 for a 3 line ad in the paper.

He's been running around my house for about 5-6 months now.If someone was missing him, they would be out looking for him by now. He's been gone for so long.

I think he was dumped, because he just showed up one day.

Are you sure your paper charges for the lost and found? Where ever I've lived in the past...Seattle etc, I'm almost sure (if I'm remembering correctly) that it was free for a few days.

Anyhow, I think he does need to be cared for so if you're able to, that would be good until you can find a home for him. It would be better than having him running around, maybe getting hit by a car or pts in shelter.

Here, paper doesn't actually broadcast the fact that Found ads are free, you have to ask them specifically about that. They limit the number of words you can use, but give you enough to get the point across.

Pittiegurl - did you ask the paper specifically about a FOUND ad?

So take him to them.... if they wont drive to where ever you are they should still take him if he is brought to them.

Even if you arnt old enough to drive most parents would help out in that to get a stray dog away from their own dogs.
