"The honeymoon is over."

As my dad likes to say, about bringing a new pup into the house. Ripley was an ANGEL for the first 3 days, and on the 3rd night the little demon within him started to show itself when he was zooming around and barking at everything.

Well, Dakota has ended our honeymoon. LOL. He's been driving me up the WALL with his puppy behavior! Not that I don't love puppies, but now I remember why my favorite age for dogs is 1 year and older.

I have not been able to sit down for 5 minutes at a time ALL DAY LONG. My back is killing me from bending over and my arms are sore from restraining a squirming puppy. My hands are sore cause he's been chewing on them, and my LEGS are sore because I have been running around ALL DAY LONG. Plus, my pants are shredded 'cuz he chewed on them while I was taking a nap. Oh yeah, and my bedspread is missing some of its 'fluff' now. Gotta love puppies!

Carrie, how do you feel about dog-sitting for a while?

Time to buy a crate or portable kennel. At least then you can get some down time.

*roflmbo* Oh dear!! I don't envy you at all, Grace! Surely he'll crash hard eventually and give you a time out!! The visual is just too funny, but I feel your pain... I can't imagine chasing that babe around. And I thought Missie was hyper...

Ohh yes Dax, the crate is my getaway.. The crate and some loud music to drown out the barking.

School was actually easy today.. the first day always is.

A-w-w-w...I'm just glad it's you and not me. LOL. I had forgotten what demons they are when I got reminded with Lyric. You see, it's been a long time since I had a puppy like that. Bonnie, my Lab was not much trouble. She was laid back from the beginning and the Chihuahuas were so small, it didn't really matter too much what they did. Then I got Lyric and I swore, that's the last puppy for me. He was a monster and he got heavy and big so quickly.

So, I can just picture you leaping up off the couch...."A-h-h-h Dakota...not that. Please don't eat that." LOL.

Dog sitting? U-h-h well, Let me think of a good excuse. Hee hee hee.
Well, I'll dog sit in another year....year and a half. How's that? LOL.

LOL! Yea I remember when my dalmation had 15 puppies. Kinda odd bc of the 101 dalmations. They were all very VERY hyper!

LOL yes..

Carrie, how did you guess about the leaping off the couch to stop him? This puppy is one more 'tidbit' away from a basket muzzle, because he tends to gulp down whatever he has found just so I don't take it away. (That includes wads of buster's hair, which he likes to pull out of Buster's tail, old crackers, meat, paper, carpet and string)

He had puppy class tonight, and he was awesome.. We got used as an example several times because he did so well. (This class was huge! I was expecting maybe 10-15 dogs tops, and I think there were 30 or 40 there.)
So he'll mature someday.. lol.

Glad to hear puppy class went so well Grace.. And I can relate to the hair. Mia loves hair, strings. And actually I found a string with a bead still on it that she had eaten. tiny bead.. So, Now every day I get to her level.. Lying on the floor and check everywhere LOL.. :shiver: Its amazing the things you can find..Especially when you have a 6 yr. old in the house..

That's fantastic that your new pup is off to such a good start with class. He sounds very smart. Well, naturally. He's a Border Collie. You're going to have a ball with that dog. You go girl!
