I feel really bad now..

Well we brought "Cheyenne" (as we call her) home yesterday instead of Sat. She still had worms in her stools Sat. and I didnt want that added to my yard LOL..I know IM bad.. anyway--We took Harley to meet her at the clinic Sat and things went off fine for the most part--he smelled her She smelled him then they ignored each other...Brought her home yesterday and just about the same thing.. He tried to play with her and she got scared and growled but nothing come of it.. HE is huge compared to her LOL....anyway things between those two is actually going good--they dont have much to do with each other but she does follow him around.

We have the kitchen blocked off so she can not go on the carpet--however she can come in our bedroom WHEN we are in there.. and she made herself right at home--jumped on the bed and laid down like she had been here forever... Now after having her for only LESS then 24hrs I have come to the conclusion that this poor girl is LOST not a stray---SHE is just to good...She whines to go out side to go potty--WE learned this the hard way--my daughter took her out to go and brought her back in and said she wouldnt go--Cheyenne started crying and we thought well what does she want TWO seconds later she pee'd OUR BAD....LOL...BUT thats the ONLY time so far and she has let us know everytime she has had to go...She knows how to sit...knows how to walk on a leash for the most part..when we went to a friends and took her to play with their puppy and had dinner--when it was time to eat she wanted in the kitchen at the table and I told her NO go lay down and she did...AND then the crate I figured it would be a sleepless night--NOPE...within 5 mins she had settled in and fell asleep---didnt hear her again until hubby got up at 4 AM to go to work--actually he took her outside and it took her about 5 mins. to settle back down--BUT she went outside and not in her crate....

SO I feel so bad--she is a great puppy but it is obv. someone cared about her and that she was taken care of...I think she has a home and just got lost..I have posted ads in the papers about her just in case...So we will see what happens...I think someone has to be looking for her.. SHE is a great pup and so sweet.....I hope she was found like the people said she was==where she was found it is common to see people walking with pets and them not have leashes on them or collars for that matter---just the way that neighborhood is...I will keep you posted..

Our Ginger did that as well the first time she was introduced to a new dog after losing Ty; just threw a huge temper tantrum over it, was growly at times around the pup, pooped in the house ( I think just to show her displeasure ) and pouted to the extreme.

We decided she wasn't ready and gave her a few more weeks, tried again and she was much better the second time around. IF Harley's problems stem from losing Chevy maybe he just isn't ready yet? I strongly believe that animals can grieve and just as with humans, sometimes it takes a bit longer to move on for some than it does others. jmo

I agree dogs do grieve.
When we lost Lucy Isabella totally refused to sleep where they both slept
And she used to look for her.

Well Harley doesnt seem to be getting any better with the new pup...We are going to give it a couple of weeks and see what happens though..Time will tell... He is still going after her--sometimes over his toys sometimes just because he wants to I guess.. We dont leave them alone together at all SO it can be managed.. BUT If he doesnt start acting like he likes her in some way then we will most likely place her in a home which I hate to do because we have all gotten pretty attached to her already.. SHE is a great pup...

Gee! I'm really sorry things are difficult for you and Harley right now, maybe Harley just needs a ton of extra attention to get him through this tough time ( I'm sure you're already doing that anyway!).
Fingers crossed that the next few weeks show positive results.
