Always room for one more

Quincy- that first pic on the right does make her look a bit like a Collie, but I think it's just her ears... I think she looks like she's got some Chow and Golden Retriever in her.
She looks 100% soft and fluffy (read: huggable) to me! ![]() |

She's adorable and smiley. It's hard to guess what she could have in her. She could be a mix from a mix from a mix. I see how she could look like Sheltie, maybe a little Poodle in her???? Something yellow....Lab, Golden? It's hard to see in the picture, but do you think her feet are inproportionately large for her body? Does she have any black marks on her tongue? (like a Chow?) Hard to figure. Maybe your vet could give you a good guess.
Anyhow, what fun to have a new puppy. Enjoy....they grow up so fast. She is a cute little fluff ball. |

In my shelter work I have had so many people refuse to adopt a puppy/dog because of this myth that all dogs with spotted tongues must have some chow in them. The chow has gotten a bad rep lately for being unpredictable when they get older. Just beacuse there are black spots on the tongue does not imeadiately point to chow. There are several breeds that can turn up with a spotted tongue. The most common are labs of all colors, most retrievers and some others.

I was thinking chow/retriever.
The chow thing...at my childhood home...the neighbors chow mauled our little pygmy goat. It was a terrible thing to see! I know the "blame the breed" thing comes into play here. But I trust chows less than pits. Locally I've heard of more chow bites than any other dog. Actually...why don't dalmations have a bad rep?? They do a lot of biting too! My husband was bit in the face my a dalmation when he was a paper boy. I have another friend that was bitten by a dalmation also. Sorry that's off subject! |

I don't disagree with the bad name that Chows have lately. My sister-in-law was bit in the face by a Chow she had known all of its life. But just because a dog has black/purple on it's tongue does NOT mean that it is a Chow.
