Smart little weiner

Bailey never ceases to amaze me. Tonight she did two things that had me wondering what goes on in her little head!

Right when I got home from work tonight I took Bailey out in the yard for a game of fetch. She has a special little ball that she loves to death and she ran around the yard several times looking for it. When she couldn't find it she ran up onto the deck and stuck her head through each rung in the railing looking down until she saw the ball. She ran down the steps, got the ball and brought it to me to play. She actually had enough problem solving ability to know that she needed to get higher in order to look around the yard better to find the ball.

The second thing she did was show me her sense of humor. Hooligan (my cat) knocked a pen off the desk onto the floor. Of course Bailey snatched it up right before I could get it and ran across the room. I told her to drop it and she immedietly put it down. When I went to go pick it up she grabbed it again and trotted a few feet from me wagging her tail. I told her to drop it again and she did, tail still wagging. When I tried to pick it up she grabbed it AGAIN and backed up a few feet, tail wagging violently! We went through this two more times, now I'm laughing. I had to go get a treat and trade the pen for a cookie! I think she knew excatly what she was doing and conned me into giving her the cookie.

Cute subject! lol It's kinda like when you want to show your friends a cute trick your dog does. And the dog ignores you completely! It seems like one of those moments. "my dog is very well behaved and listens well" I do say that often, then there are moments that I'm glad noone sees that the dogs really do RUN the house! lol

My goodness! Bailey is one smart little German dog. How cute is that???

I think it's true Kerriebeth that they know more than they let on sometimes. I even got a b-day card from my Mom the other day that had two dogs on it talking to one another. One said to the other, "I know more commands than I let on." LOL!

I know dogs must have the secret to life. They are just too smart to tell. I see dogs do such amazing things like save little children, find their way home from hundreds of miles away and protect their owners in impossible situations. They have the greatest heart that they can forgive more and love more than any other creature on earth. I love dogs.
