Dogs who sleep in their owners beds
My dog sleeps with me in my bed otherwise known as " The Den " I love it but my family and friends think I'm off the wall weird . Irish people in general have a very negative attitude to dogs( I live in Ireland ) and most people consider them dirty...my girl , a husky/sheperd cross is always cleaning herself..indeed she's more catlike in that respect than other dogs I know so my argument to people is that her feet ( paws 0 are much much cleaner than my shoes.
Does anyone have a similaR EXPERIENCE? |

We are on a rotating schedule here. One dog per night, everyone else not sleeping with me must sleep in the dog room. Right now Jazz and Topper are sleeping with me, but we'll be back in the rotation soon.
I think family and friends, unless they are also dog people, always think that dog people are weird. I don't even take offense any more. It's their loss that they are missing out on everything their dog can experience with them. Finally, sure, my dogs track in dirt, but I have a mop, a carpet shampooer and a washing maching. It would be like saying no more eating on this dishes because I don't want to wash them anymore and we can't get them dirty... LOL! |

Not strange at all!! When I was babysitting 2 Weim puppies I always had one on my head and one on my back...they couldnt lay beside me or at the end of the bed, they had to lay ON me. I think, If you can pick up there poop you can lay with them too. If my Axa wanted to, she would be very welcome to lay on the bed.

I'm personally not big on having dogs sleep in my bed or the couch. As clean as my dog is and my cats I never let them in my bed I just think its gross and it makes my bed feel dirty
. Then again I kinda have OCD! LOL! I have no choice but to let my cats on my couch but I do not let them in my bedroom, I always keep my door shut ![]() |

I don't find anything wrong with it if the owner is ok with it. I like to rotate my dogs and try and let them all in for a night at least once every month. Most of mine don't like the bed and want to go outside, but Sherwen always steals my spot and Neptune likes to get between me and the wall and push me off, lol. Jacques is a little better- he just wants to cuddle up with me under the blankets and go to sleep.

Mine sleep in bed with me, its a tight squeeze! Rexie sometimes gets frustrated with everyone lying on her (because she takes up waaaaaaaaaay too much room) so she leaves and goes to her crate.
And yes, it does require constant usage of a washing machine, but thats what they are there for, right? |

I used to let Max sleep with me when he was a pup, until one night when the hubby was home Max got mad (or territorial, haven't decided which) and peed on the hubby's pillow....although I laughed afterwards, he has since been assigned to his crate at night.
As for Elite, well....me, 100lb dog, plus 200lb man, in a king size bed....you get the idea...no room!! LOL Spatz is not trustworthy enough, or comfortable, sleeping with us, she prefers her crate. And Bella, well...she is going to be crated at night no matter what! LOL I don't mind dogs in the bed, or on the furniture. We bought our furniture treated so it would be easy to clean. And yes, I have a shampooer and mop...just part of owning a dog!! |

We let my dogs on the furniture but my parents and my husband's family does not allow this. Bruce's brother in law threw Bailey off the couch at our house once. Bruce calmly said the dogs were allowed on the furniture and never do that again.
Bailey usually wants to sleep in her doggy bed in a corner of the bedroom. Lucy always sleeps on the bed. Sometimes the stinker crawls under the covers and I find her by my feet in the morning. When she was a baby I found her under my PJ top a few times. I woke up and wondered what was so hot against my tummy and it was Lucy! She would wake up and stick her head out of my neck hole and give me kisses. |

For the last 5 years our bed has hosted 3...my husband, the dog and me. Sometimes it's a toss up who gets to stay in bed all night...Shadow can be quite the bed hog for a small dog...I'm sure you guys have put up with that, you know ...people sleep north/south the dog sleeps east/west...get the idea
doesn't leave much room! |

Our dogs take turns sleeping on the bed. The others sleep on doggie beds in the bedroom when it's not their turn. They also are allowed to sit on the sofa and loveseat. I have slipcovers over them that can be thrown in the washing machine. Funny thing is with five dogs and three cats, we have never had problem with fleas. But my neighbor, who has no pets of any kind, had a big flea problem last summer. Maybe it's because I am constantly cleaning and washing bedclothes and keep the house as clean as I possibly can.

Cocoa normally will not sleep with me, though, lately she has actually slept in bed with me. I love, love, love, love it! Maybe it is just me, but something aobut a warm, soft, and furry creature laying up against my legs really comforts me and puts me to sleep.
I have only a twin sized bed, so once I get my new Pointer, man is it going to be crowded on my bed! ![]() ![]() |

My husband is that kind of person who bought up thinking dog should stay outside in their kennel, if inside, not allow on the furniture.
Took me 5 years to change his mind. Now the cat sleep with us every night, and the the dogs take over the couch, soon we'll have to sit on the floor ![]() |
