Well they take off running when they see me anyays, besides the time when Kessy was in heat and on the mailbox they atleast stay on their property and bark from there...
Roman candles, hmmmm Would do it if there wasn't the burn ban... But i guess they would still come over at nighttime. because they know nobody is outside. I am still upset so i guess i will wait a little longer before i go over there. |

I know it might be tough, but have you considered capturing them. A lasso(sp?? I am from the North...) can be simple and effective at catching a dog. It also would help keep them there till animal control arrives. Does your town fine if your dog gets picked up roaming free by animal control?? That could be a good deterent, and then you won't just be the neighbor that is always calling animal control.
If that does not work I would just start pestering your neighbor. EVERY time the dogs come onto your property call and let them know it. A few calls a day, every day will get annoying really fast. Just be civil and nice, because that will make it even more annoying to them. Mace does work or just getting something nasty and splashing it on them like skunk spray. Good luck ![]() |

Seriously...I do hope you can resolve this. It has to be such a menace. People are so oblivious sometimes....no imagination what so ever. It's infuriating. ![]() |

You know, Mul may have something there. Why don't you get some big "live traps", capture the dogs, lock them in your barn, and...train them to obey you perfectly! Hey, it's not their fault their owner is irresponsible!
PS Hi Mul! Glad you're back! ![]() |

RBW - Thanks, Moved into my new place and did not think to call the cable company so I was sans internet for about a while plus the entire time while in California so I got some catching up to do...
The good news is that appearantly they came today and we have internet and cable tv... Channel surfing is not fun when you only get 6 channels and one of them is home shopping and the other is the creepy christian station... ![]() |

What about using an animal safe dye and a really nasty smell? I bet that that'd take a while to get off, and it'd sure get the owner's attention after the first few times...

Why are you shooting BBs at the dogs? This sounds mean and ineffective. Are you trying to hurt the dogs, scare them off, or kill them? A BB can put out an eye, they also tend to get lodged just under the skin and get infected. If you want to scare them, try a shotgun with dummy loads. You want to kill ‘em, use a rifle. [Consider the legalities of all these too 1) should get you in trouble, 2) would depend on local laws, 3) will depend on state laws.]
If you have local animal or code enforcement, have them take care of it. Best option for the animals and the relation with your neighbors. |

Ohh i olove that stinm idea, i just can't get close enough.... they don't have to be near to take off running, it was different when Kessy was in heat, the hormones knocked the brain out. LOL....
Steve: I know it sounds mean and even shooting with the BBs was hard for me, but i really feared for my puppys. They came up to our backyard fence, with the pupd starting to get outside, and moms instincts of protection full in action. I can't afford and a wounded dog, i don't want any of my pups in a fight. eventhough it is normal and can happen. but i don't see why I have to step Out my door on my property check if the neighbours dogs are out there, i feel like very restraint. the first encounter I had with them dogs was at the mailbox, they didn't have any respect, I was an intruder, even on our property. they snarled, came up to the truck door stiff leged and If I would have done one wrong move i bet that one would have bit. I managed to claim my terretory, atleast keep them on distance. I hopeed that stonethorwing and the BBs scare them of. I have a lasewrpointer, and they usually. come when it is ark, and theyn it shines bright on thier butts. where i hit. I wich I could find something that repells them on its own. I would have some fencer out in the grass, but the fireban i don't dare, one spark.... but that probably wouldn't halp much.... |

An idea just struck me....(I know, it's rare, but this might work!) I have seen in some gardening magazines these "scarecrow" looking things that you put in the yard. They are hooked up to the garden hose, and have a motion detector on them. Anytime something comes in the yard, they get sprayed with a healthy jet of water. These scarecrows will turn and spray in just about any direction. You could set them around the yard and turn them on at night. Just a thought!!

The scarecrow is a good idea, so is live trapping them. It seems like if you put the live traps out with food in them, you are sure to catch them. Then call the authorities, The people will have to pay to get them back.
Also, call the authorities and ask them what they think you should do. Maybe they will just come out and get the dogs. |

I don't know about a BB gun, the BB are small\steel and travel fast enough to pierce the skin and cause an infection, that scares me a little.
I'll tell you what I WON'T hesitate to use(only out in the country of course) is my paintball gun the shot fill is 100% vegitiable based so it's harmless but it makes a TON of noise(think .22 cal with more base) when fired and will leave a nice bruise when hit just remember the older the paintball the harder and more dangerous it is be careful and only use as a last resort of course. |
