Hello
I just got in from feeding my horses, and I am just so mad!!! Well some remember that i had trouble with my neighbourdogs and and the missing leashlaws. Wich doesn't bother me that much ut atleast keep the dogs on the property. Well to whats happened. In Dez my Kessy was in heat again, and i went over to the neighbours and asked them to atleast keep their dogs up for the next 1 1/2 weeks, because I had that dog barking and snarling in front of me and I don't want to touch him if he got on Kessy. But they didn't first i thought but, no. Luckly the pupps were allarming and I didn't have to fear that Kessy jumps the fence. But he sure tried to dig in.... So tonight It was getting dark and as usuall i took the dogs with me to feed the horses and on the way back, who was ther that **** neighbourdog right infront of our house. Kessy took off after him i was oh my gosh, no fight please, the bigger fear was two pupps took after her out of sight up the driveway. i wisteled for Kessy and the pups but it took quite a while untill she returned, I couln't tell if it was a couple seconds or a minute. timefeeling was just gone. in between I heard something squeeking, but I couldn't tell who it was. My dogs are fine, as far as i can tell right now, alex was limping a little but it went away, so right now I don't see anything. I am just getting so tired and angry, I don't go to the front of the property with my dogs i just go to the back, but even there I am not safe anymore. I tried to scare them of by throwing stones, yelling shooting them with a BB gun, but they keep comming back. I feel tempted to just let Kessy run but I fear for her health. I felt the urge to go to the neighbours right away, but changed my mind, as angy and upset I was that would not have done any good. i know they work all day and have a lot to do. But I am just getting so tierd of it. I don't want to be the neighbour that just calls anymal control. and I don't think I have nothing to tell themto keep their dog on the property. My dogs leave the property sometimes too but just wehn i am with them. I don't know what to do. I don't want to mess it up with the neighbours.... |

Well, if the neighbors are so uncaring as to do anything to control their own dogs, you can't be expected to sit back and be walked all over. I would let them know how you're not appreciating that their dogs are coming over right on your front door step and starting fights with your dogs. If they don't do something about it, then you have every right to call animal control. It is a dilema when you don't want to have animosity with the neighbors and yet.....what can you do? I feel for you.
A sting from a bb gun wouldn't be so bad to chase them off. I think it would deter them, plus the popping sound....just so long as you're a good shot and can get them in the rear area, not the face. And so long as it's not a pump gun, just a regular bb gun that won't cause penetration. Or just shooting over head might be enough. I hope this gets solved. Let us know. |

If you're out in the country and have livestock, generally, the laws are that you can shoot any animal that harrasses or threatens your animals. Don't know your specific laws, but that's how it is lots of places in the country.

Well i got a hit on one dog with a BB gun, but the gas was not too full anymore, so i guess it didn't hit too hard...
They come over get into the trash pee on the corners and tirers and garagedoor, (and the sidedoor) i guess they are brave because my dogs are in the backyard and don't come out and at night they are in the house. so they come over and mark. They are getting smart and go through the cowpasture, behind the bushes and come up right in front of our frontdoor, so they are gone fast if i come outside, Kessy trieds to bark them away when they come down the driveway, and usually is very successfull with it. When they see us they take off running, very fast when we are outside the fence.... I told that my trainer and carrie you are right, I would be allowed to shoot them. He was wondering why the pupps barked at the other dogs, when I bought them to training, and then I told the story... and waht Kessy does, and they learned that from her. He told me that dogs like that just would get shot. with the BB gun I am good and I am not affraid when they take a hit. but with the deerriffle I am not that good and i am affraid when I try to shoot over thier heads that i hit one. We scared some off in Kansas by shooting low over the head, that worked.... But my husband works all day and is never there or sleeping when they come. They know when we are sleeping.... |

Actually your neighbour is lucky you are so patient and are only using bb shots. Maybe once you're not angry and tired you could speak with them again...if that doesn't work, well, you gave it your best shot to do things the friendly way, so you'll have to call animal control.
Sorry, you had such a rough day...hope tomorrow is better! ![]() |

I think the neighbor is the one who needs a BB in the butt.

Hmmm Not a bad idea RBW.
Well if the dogs run arround that is ok , but i don't like them on my property... i have a guess why they do it, ther wasn't anybody living for a while and i don't think that there were dogs the last years, so they think it is their terretory. like they tried to intimmidate me at the mailbox, but didn't weren't successfull. And now they have to mark all the time ti make sure that they have that terretory still, eventhough they are just brave when Kesy is behind the fnce, they can run fast, when she is out..... well yeah that doesn't help me, but i understand the dogs point of view, and i uess that makes it even harder to keep them off. Oh well i guess i will make it over there somtime this week, when I have a "battleplan" what to say. i have problems to put it nice but serious. I hope it will come out right. i mean even his cattle on our property i don't mind. They have pretty smart cows, theyknow how to get over the cattleguard.... And visit us sometimes.... Ok i will go to bed now. and hopefully tomorrow looks nicer.... Have a good night , too. |

I don't know if you can do this, but I finally lost it and took after the dogs at my snowmachine when they came in my dog yard. I just went at them as fast as I could (without hitting them), and scared them out of my yard.
I don't know if it will solve it, but next time they come up I'm going to mace them. Roman candles worked for a while, but then I ran out of them because I had to use them daily :/ |
