Talking I incited a doggie riot!

Our neighbors have a JRT pup thats maybe about 8 months old. They allow it to roam all over the neighborhood. Which it does because its not neutered. This dog is crazy and vicious. It runs up to bigger dogs and nips them and takes off. It likes to come down to try to play with Abbie through the fence, it runs back and forth and jumps around. Abbie just kind of sits and watches it run back and forth and eventually the dog gets frustrated and adds a yapping bark to the running and jumping. Its cute, she kind of smirks at it like "Uh..do you expect me to care that you're yapping at me? I can step on you!"

It started doing this at about 8am this morning. I called the owners, they gave me a "Oh well he likes to play with your dog...he doesn't have any doggie friends..he'll come home when he's tired" and didn't care that he was out roaming. Then another neighbor calls and angrily asks me to shut the dog the heck the up, shes trying to sleep. I apologized and told her it was not my dog and gave her the phone number of the owners and told her she could lodge a complaint there. After that I went out to see if I could catch the dog. Nope. The second I stepped out my door, it took off. Right after I went back inside, it was back and yapping again. After 5 or 6 times, I gave up that trick.

By this time, others were starting to wake up and let their dogs into their yards. We live in a valley and our little area is pretty open, you can see into everyones backyards. So the neighbors Huskies start barking at the little JRT thats still yapping at Abbie. Then someone else let their Yorkies out and they start barking. A Lab walks past and starts barking. The guy behind me lets his Rottie out, who comes down into my yard and barks at the JRT. Thank goodness the Rottie is a sweetheart and only wanted to play, and that the Rotties owner was right behind him trying to herd him back to his own yard. Of course, you know how loud the the "Rottie Roar" is and we live in a valley so it echoed, so at this point I started hearing dogs in houses I couldn't see start barking. Someone eventually called the police, who had a good laugh over the whole thing until they tried to catch the JRT. Boy, would that have been a scene to show on The Three Stooges, three burly policemen outsmarted by a teensy dog. True to what the owners said, the dog did eventually take off for good, but it was a memorable morning for sure. All those dogs barking at the same time was definetly riot-like.

Hopefully everyone calls the JRT's owners and they stop letting him roam.

Holy cow, what a mess.

Did the police take any info on the little dog? Did they ask who the owners were or act like they were going to call animal control?

What a funny story, ....kinda....

They asked where the dog belonged and I gave them the name and address but they didn't take it down or anything. Just said that if they get called out again they will bring an AC officer next time and hand out noise citations. Don't think they were taking it too seriously, which while it was an amusing situation to have all these dogs barking and while this is the first time they've been called for this little dog, I'd think they should have at least gone and talked to the owner. But they seemed more concerned with the Rottie owner and how HIS dog could hurt the poor little JRT if he got ahold of it. A little breedist if you ask me, but I wasn't about to argue about it then and there and since it didn't concern my dog.

I could just picture this mayhem in my head...all because of one little dog...just proves size isn't everything.
Hope your neighbour finally got some sleep!!

OMG! That sounds just awful, albeit, funny the way you tell it. Those people need to be told a thing or two. How annoying so early in the morning! I hope things improve.
