Question Think your dog is "weird"?

Dogs are funny animals, all with different personalities and quirky behaviour. Whether it be chasing it's tail, strange looks, wacky tricks or funny noises..... What does your dog do that may be classified as "weird"?

My rottis have some weird traits, but maybe not uncommon amongst the dog world, here are a few.
PJ chases his tail, which ok may seem normal, but hes a rotti, it's docked, so he's chasing a stump...LOL. Only when he's really excited. He also makes a noise when he has a toy or bone in his mouth, so happy, and sounds like Chewbaka off of Star Wars...LMAO.
Tysa likes to grin, yes GRIN, she always manages to stare at you and her lips curl up onto her gums, showing this big cheesy grin, often with her tongue hanging out at the same time. Usually when mentioning the words "cookie, car, outside or walk".

I think it's great, and want to see what "weird" traits other dogs have.

You should enter Tysa in the smiling contest that the BARK magazine. They are asking people to send pictures in and it will go into the magazine. Here is the site. smiling@thebark.com

The only thing I can think of that any of my dogs do that could be considered weird is Azrael ALWAYS eats whatever the other dogs are eating even though she gets the same thing. No matter what food or treat I give all three, she always ignores hers and goes to either Zada or Delsi to eat theirs.

Well my kids are funny all the time.
Lucky likes to talk to me when i'm fixing his food. he makes a arg-row-row sound it caracks me up so i talk it back to him.
Fallon like to hug and smile, but others think she is giving a mean face but really she just likes to smile.
Talena likes to sneak up on the couch with people, now know she is about 40 something pounds, she then proceeds to kick them with her back feet. kind of like a cat would peel out on something. I think she'd make a gret soccer player....lol
Well thats just a small taste of the wierd things my kids do.

That must be hilarious!

I'm not sure if this is weird or not, but Mocha likes to roll over on her back and play with toys in her paws. There's a picture of it in the Dog Pictures forum. She also likes to roll around on the floor with her ears, flicking her legs up and growling instead of just scratching her ears like a normal dog. It's pretty hilarious to watch. Then if you growl at her, she'll flick her legs up at the same time you growl.

I think other dogs do it too, but Panna loves to twirl whenever she's happy. Of course, she starts reverse sneezing whenever she's excited (even when she's chasing her tail), so it'll be twirl, reverse sneeze for two seconds, twirl, reverse sneeze for two seconds. She doesn't even seem to notice, it's adorable.

I still haven't noticed anything weird that Cannelle does, but I'm sure something will come up....

Abbie does more weird things than normal! I'm half convinced she doesnt believe she is a dog.

She opens doors with her mouth. She learned pretty quick how to grab and turn doorknobs. She also eats laying down, and she wraps her paws around the dish and makes sure no stray kibble falls on the floor. Then after dinner she licks her paws clean and wipes her mouth on the towels in the bathroom.

She also gets really excited when the dvd player door pops open. I don't know why, but she wags her tail and drops into a sit and then if nothing happens, she gets up and barks at it. You can torment her for hours by sitting on the couch and hitting the Eject/Close button over and over. Perhaps she thinks its dispenses treats.

HAHA...
I'm also convinced Tysa thinks she's a cat. She loves to lay on the arm of the couch.....nothing strange about an 85lb dog on the arm...noooo....LOL. She also likes to catch flies and birds??? And is good at it. What the!!! She doesn't eat them, she spits out the flies, and tosses birds around like they are play toys. I've started having to watch her in the summer and take the bird feeders away. She'll leap into the air and just nab them. I know she isn't trying to hurt them, it's all a game, but poor little things. Definately can't be late on any shots...LOL. Not sure if there is much else I can do but try not to attract birds to the yard. Silly doggie.

Ok, make way there, stand aside for the strangest dog in history. You can't hope to compete with Finn the Loony.

Finn too believes he's a cat. After he's been lying down awhile, or he's been asleep, he arches his back, then stretches his front legs, keeping his bum in the air, and gives a jaw-splitting yawn. On the subject of yawns, Finn's yawns are accompanied by a curious sound that is halfway between a whine and a yawn, and that sounds like a squeaky hinge, so that unless he's in front of you, you leap up in a fright thinking there are burglars in the house.

He is also a very disgusting dog. When he's eaten, he sometimes lets out the most unsettling human burps. Finn is, as well as the Loony, known as the Fart Machine. Human beings cannot hope to compete with him. All his gas attacks are SBD (Silent But Deadly) and so great is their density that they float in the air.

Finn occasionally catches sight of his tail and attempts to grab it, determined to punish the attacker that has latched on to his rear. He has never managed it yet.

He has an abnormal fear of church bells, which is rather unfortunate since we live directly opposite one, and the bells are rung with a vigour that hardly seems possible coming from a 70 or 80-year old nun. Every time they ring now, you hear this: donggg... woof. donggg...woof. donggg... woof! donggg... woof.

As well as being afraid of bells, he has occasionally run away in panic from his water bowl, a stone, a football and the sofa.

That's all I can think of. Anyway, my fingers ache.

I love these threads!

I've heard it said that dogs reflect their owner's personality...So, I'm in trouble!

Tia is very strange. She can jump into the air and spin, crawl on the ground like a spider, smile a big toothy grin, and climb logs like a cat.

She lays under my desk while I'm at the computer, and then slowly, this nose comes up between my knees...please, please can we go outside to run, play, and find stinky things at the beach?!

Oh, okay! The "cute" factor is a killer! The great destoyer of all my well layed plans. Curses! Foiled again by cuteness!

OC chases his tail when he's frusterated (like when I take too long to get readyto go for a walk) then when he catches it he falls to the ground and just lays there with his tail in his mouth not quite sure what to do.

OC and Ronan also sing along to my cellphone when it starts ringing. This is especially amusing when in the middle of a store!

OC talks back at me and we take on whole conversations. It's woooo woooing though, not barks

Lexie is made of Rubber...no lie. The dog can bend any which way and sleep in the oddest spots, case in point:

Polly likes to play with plastic soda bottles. She only takes them after we've finished with them and gotten the air out by crushing the middle of the bottle. This is the signal, to her, that she's allowed to take the bottle. She takes the bottle in her mouth, settles down on the floor, and chews off the cap with twisting motions. Once she has removed the cap, she is done with it, and wanders off, never to play with the bottle again.

Nadja keeps her toenails short by chewing them. She chews out the soft not-quite-quick parts on the inside of the curve, which causes the hard parts to break off or wear down when she walks. I've never needed to cut her nails.

I haven't had Tuni long enough to learn what her funniest habit is!

Bailey is definetly weird. She thinks of the craziest ways to entertain herself and us. When she is hungry she pick her food bowl up and flips it over her head and runs around the house, crashing into wallls because she can't see. She takes squeaky toys and puts them in her water bowl and squeezes them so they pull water inside. Then she runs around the house squirting water all over the place like a squirt gun. Her newest thing is to bring me a toy to throw for her and when I reach for it she casually turns her head or takes a small step back, keeping the toy a millimeter out of my reach. At first I didn't understand and I reached for it 10 times before I realized she was doing it on purpose. She does this all the time now and I love to watch family members that don't know try and get the toy from her. She is so casual and nonchalant about it that you don't know what is going on. She gets me laughing so hard sometimes.

Lucy's only goofy thing is when she and Bailey get the zoomies. She taunts and picks at Bailey until she can't stand it and the chase is on. Zooooom around the house they go. Suddenly Lucy stops and Bailey keeps going, through the kitchen, around the dining room and front rooms back through the kitchen in a loop. Lucy hides against the wall and jumps out at Bailey each time she passes. The little stinker isn't fast enough to stay away from Bailey so she gets her going in a loop and waits for her to pass so she can jump her. The loop goes on for up to 10 minutes until Bailey is exhausted, tongue hanging out and ready to drop and then Lucy resumes the chase so she can catch her.

( The zoomies actually just started when I got done typing this....I think my dogs can read too!)

Well, my boy does have a few bizarre habits like after he drinks water he must come over and lick my leg, can't for the life of me figure out why...maybe he thinks I have dry skin!!!
Or he will sit very patiently watching me when I sew one of his plush toys...he will not budge until the fix is finished and he can survey the work. Slave driver !
