Was it just me?

I will admit that I'm not a pitbull person. But I have seen some gorgeous pitties. That dog sure as heck doesn't look like it should have won any kind of show! She's SOOOO Small!! And has no muscle tone!! Why is that something that people like?! Just like my mom's ridgie not placing in a show...and the dog that did was skin and had no body!! I'd like to see a thin, sickly looking ridgie chase down a lion!! I think MOST judges do tend to place dogs on the thoughts of "Could this dog perform the job it was bred to do?" But some judges don't.

Pitbulls, although I like 'em, are not my first pick either (I like herding breeds, personally) but I do know the breed relatively well.. That dog was just too small and leggy, IMO.

I'd say she was a bit skinny, could stand to gain 3 or 4 pounds or so, but she just appears even more thin because of those long legs...

I agree...it is a bit skinny and leggy. We never put our pitt in shows so I don't know that much about it but I don't think this one should have won.

Well....I don't see it's ribs sticking out. I think it's just lean and it may look gangly and leggy because it's young. (?) I didn't notice the age. As it matures, it will probably fill out and muscle up. That's the way Lyric, my Dobe looks....really lean, ribs not showing, but felt, not stocky yet. Another year or so and he'll look like a dobe, just as I suspect that Pit will.

That is exactly how Junior,T-Bone and Dozer look, and I free feed my dogs....That dog looks just fine to me I think because people are not use to seeing a lean dog right away they assume the dog is under fed and too skinny...Alot of the dogs now are way to over weight, they should be more lean....

To me that dog looks great and all you can see is the muscle.

agreed. the bitch in question she has a LOT of growing to do, and hopefully the muscle mass and growing into her legs

other than that, shes not uber skinny. shes at a fairly ideal weight - most people dont recognize what a dog SHOULD weight, so they automatically assume that optimum weight is too skinny frankly, i would rather a dog be a little on the lean side than anything. and one day, maybe bowie will get there
