Animal Cops Houston

I had never seen this episode...even though it was obviously a repeat...at the end of the show it said oct '02-oct '03. BUT, I have watched MOST of these Animal Cop/Precinct shows. I have NEVER cried as much as I did on this one!! These sick freakin people STARVED their puppy to death. Then the woman proceeded to say in court that they have never abused or neglected any animal. HOW oh HOW could they NOT realize!! That this poor creature died in one of the WORST possible ways?! She said she didn't know it was going on...because it was her 15 yr old sons puppy. OK, Yeah...he's 15, a MINOR, which makes HER responsible for what happens to the animals on her property! When the spca officer brought the puppy into the clinic it was still alive. But he was soo soooo skinny and dehydrated that he was not saveable. I cried. Because no matter how many times I see sick things like this....I still don't understand it. How could someone do something so terrible to another living thing? My dogs are my children...I hugged them all as I cried watching that puppy basicly dying on the exam table. AGAIN...dogs do NOT have enough rights! This sick woman only got 1 day in jail and a $500 fine...NOT ENOUGH!! Not for all the pain that puppy went through. Did anyone else watch this episode? That and the poor horses on this episode, and the freak sending threatening letters to someone and then trying to posion their dogs with rat pellets. Sick people out there!!

Yea it is sick. I saw that one. thats a bunch of crap. They dont do enough for people who do these kinds of things to animals

it is terrible... awful.. i wish there was more done about these things. i watched emergency vets before work today... and someone had thrown a ball full of antifreezed soaked dog food over someones fence.. the dog ate it. but luckily his owners decided out of the blue to come home for lunch that day ( apparently they never do that) and took him to the vet in time.. but still! i cant imagine ever hurting an animal on purpose..

OK I know it probably isn't fair to compare animals to humans, but I'm going to anyways.

If that had been a CHILD that she starved to death, she'd get YEARS in prison, huge cases against her, and she could even be charged with murder. (I don't know the law too well, but to me that could be murder)
But, because it's only 'a piece of property', it really doesn't 'matter'.

I never watch the animal cops, animal precinct shows anymore.. Seriously those shows just make me HATE people in general and put me in a lousy mood.

I think I read somewhere recently that dogs are no longer property. We are gardians of our dogs now like we are gardians of our children. I know it still doesn't give animals enough rights but it might be a start. I am sure some smart lawyers are writing a whole new book on this new definition right now.
It will make it easier to take animals away from people who won't/can't take care of them.

I hate watching that show! It breaks my heart! People are so hateful and ignorant. One time I saw one where someone beat a cat w/ a crow bar to death. And another one where this man hit a chiwawa(spelling?) w/ a hammer in the head. And if a person shoots a police dog they get charged for shooting an officer of the law, right? Well thats like saying some dogs have rights and others don't That is good....but what about the other poor pets? This subject just makes my head hurt...cuz I don't want to feel hate and anger...but I just can't help it when I watch that show. I don't watch it anymore.
