Fake nails

How do women put up with these? I put on some shabby press-ons for a party last night and am going through h-e-double-hockey-sticks trying to type. Everytime I try to captalize a letter, I hit Enter. Everytime I try to press "o" or "u", I hit the 9. I'm typing with the flats of my fingers and it is so awkward. How do you ladies do it? Sure, they look gorgeous, but they're such a pain in the rear end to deal with! Plus, I'm scared I'll scratch the dogs' skins everytime I try to give them a belly rub, LOL.

As long as they aren't excessively long it is surprising how quickly you get used to them. Now when I occasionally have mine cut back shorter than usual that feels weird!

I had a hard time with the press ons. I get the professional gell tips all the time ( I have very weak nails naturally).
It took me a while to get used to them and due to how much non-girly work I do I still break them regularly. (aka- fixing cars, home improvement work, etc)

I could never get used to the press ons though.

I don't know how people stand it either. I have good nails that grow quickly but I have to keep cutting them short because I can't type properly when they're too long. I can't even begin to imagine why anyone would apply fake ones. LOL Real ones are annoying enough. I suppose if the fakes where quite short it would be different, but I've seen some REALLY long fake nails and I just don't get it. LOL

Cass.

I am giving my real nails a break, but for several years I had acrylics. Depending on my mood, sometimes I had them rather long, sometimes I had a "sport cut" or length or whatever they are called. I'm very partial to the french manicures. They look clean and classy.

I'll probably give in and get my nails done again soon. I do miss them. Takes me a day or two to get used to them again if I have been going 'natural' for awhile, but in no time, I'm typing about as fast as I did prior to having them.

I tried acrylic nails years ago and they did so much damage to my own nails that it took 6 months or more to get them back in shape and they haven't been exactly the same since. I loved how they looked though, but will never do that again!

I go in spurts. I have pretty strong natural nails, but every once in a while I'll get acrylics, and keep them on for about 3-6months until I get sick of going in and having them filled. They are pretty easy to get used to, but i never have mine real long. I LOVE the french! That's usually what I get. My husband hates the acrylics, he says they are no good for back scratches!

I have long nails anyway and you do get used to them although typing sure holds some pitfalls lol
I like my nails long because I play the flute and it makes it look more graceful and hopefully takes the mind of the listener off my playing lol

I have never had them before. I thought about getting them to help me break the habit of biting my real nails. It's a horrible habit that I have nveer been able to get over. I have gone as long as a month but I am a big worry wart and sooner or later I nibble away and they are gone.

I chewed my nails for years. Turned out it wore my teeth down so that cured me of the habit.. I hate the dentist

Barrett, that's the exact reason I started getting the acrylic nails. It's the only way to stop me from biting my nails.

Maybe my daughter should get acrylic nails! She bites her nail really bad! (Oh, she's 24 so it's not like I'm thinking about an 8 years old getting them!tee hee) I don't know where she got the habit from! My nails go from really nice to really bad, depending on how much house cleaning I'm in the mood for! LOL

I used to get my nails done arcylic but then I learned that you can get more funguses and stuff like that so now I let my nails grow by themselves. I cant keep them long Im always poking myself and the dogs with them. But I love arcylics the way they look the polish last forever. Yetr when I bowled I would sit their with my teeth and rip them off one by one cause I used a finger tip ball and couldn't feel the inside of the ball cause the nails where to long.
