pound seizure
I'm not too familiar with this issue but I was doing some research on the effects of keeping a dog chained/tied up and came across an article about pound seizure. Apparently the state I live in is one of 5 states that require pound seizure of government-run facilities. Which basically means that animals who arrive in a pound or shelter and who are not claimed by former or new guardians within five days, are required by law to be turned over on demand to government-run facilities for experimentation. I had no idea that this was going on in my state and am absolutly shocked. It's amazing to me that our government would allow this to happen. I know some people will argue that dogs and cats are just animals BUT they are at the same time innocent and defenceless and rely soley on humans for their care, safety and well-being.
Maybe I'm just rambling now but I would like to know how others feel about this issue. Thanks in advance for your time! |

The five states are Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Utah. I visited a couple of other sites that said it was only 3 of those states Utah, Minnesota and Oklahoma. Fourteen visionary states, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina, and Hawaii have banned pound seizure/pound release. Several states have no law either way
