I dunno.....
I honestlt don't remember the coonhound even being on their list. They only allowed crosses. Maybe it's just the first stages of them adding the purebreeds or something. I'll have to keep watching and see. The change is supposed to take effect in about 2 weeks so I don't look for everything to be up to par between now and then. I'm sure there is an explanation. |

What is the difference between them? None I would bet! |

Unleash The Possibilities

Good question Kerribeth.
I promise this is the last post I make on the subject of new online registries. GRRR. The only legitimate mixed breed registry I'm personally familiar with (there may be others) is AMBOR and it exists for the purpose of organizing obedience trials. It's been around at least 20 years and doesn't make it's living by providing advertising space for puppy breeders on its website. Nor does it advocate breeding mixed breeds for fun or profit. Continentalkennelclub.com is full of ads from individual breeders advertising several many (that's over 10) different breeds of puppies. Draw your own conclusions, folks. |

From what I can tell, this clubs focus is on the breeders, not the dogs. It's not a Kennel Club it seems to be more of a breeders club where the breeders are held to the standards, as well as the dogs.
I guess it's just me, but I honestly like this. Sure, we could do without the whole cross thing, but it does exist and I can put up with that if a registry can provide me with an excellent list of thoroughly checked out breeders. They even perform un-announced, on-site inspections with their members. All I can say is WoW. If I were a shotty breeder, I would NOT register with this agency due to this very reason. I mean, you have to be up to par if you give your registrty the right to check you out un-expectedely (sp?) at the risk of giving yourself a bad name. Again, just my opinion. |

I'm not so sure I like this too much. you have a registry claiming it will do all these things to insure the breeders are ethical. I don't know too many ethical breeders that "ethically" create mix breed dogs. So from the start you get rid of a whole pool of excellent breeders because they realize what a joke this is and want nothing to do with it. Then you'll have the others that will put up a front to make themselves look ethical. That will make up the foundation for these "ethical" breeders. The largest most powerful registry here AKC is a joke when it comes to these things how is this going to be different?? I know something needs to be done but most of it lies with the people themselves doing what's needed, and frankly most don't give a crap. Getting a dog is a novelty, hence the so called designer breeds, and when they wear out, good bye, let someone adopt them or kill them.
So maybe some of the breeders in this registry will actaully think its a good idea to breed and promote mixed breed dogs and add to the pet overpopulation, and will be respectable in their care for the animals. Now, dogs that are at the top of their class are the only ones that should be used for breeding, what ethical breeder is going to give up their top dog to breed mixes??? so you get 2nd rate dogs producing mutts for money. What have we accomplished??? We promoted this terrible practice IMO of creating mutts under the disguise of being dignified and rightous when our shelters are overflowing and people with little love but for the love of money are getting rich so somebody concerned with their ego only can have a labradoodle??? Great idea If anybody wants to know how I really feel about this P'M me |

Once again, I agree (somewhat),
I guess I'm not wording my posts in a way in which I am trying to get my point across. I do see what all of you are saying.....I really do..... Sure, we could do without the crosses.........so tell them. The public has already made this registry re-vamp it's image. If you got the crosses out - you really could have a great registry that screens every single breeder thats affiliated with it. |

This registry just reeks of unethical breeders trying to gain legitimacy and I'll express my concerns for their "designer" dogs being included, but for some reason I just don't think it will do much difference. I guess time will tell.

I just wanted to say...........if all of you with high dollar dogs actually looked into the breed you have and researched it, most likely you will find it originated from two different breeds of dogs. Check it out. so, the dogs that are paid for as being "pure bred" were actually not purebred at the time, just like everything else, times change. Now they are accepted as purebred
