i didnt read VERY carefully, but im not so sure this deserves major support -
they ALLOW and support cross breeding (designer breeds) as long as you do it by their rules.... |

It's a start, but Kim has a point, they are supporting the breeding of designer breeds as long as it's done 'their way'. Yes, their way is better than how most BYB are doing it, but they're still mutts.
Otherwise, that registry looks promising, if they took out the bit about mixed breeds, I'd completely support it. |

Unleash The Possibilities

I read it. I was having a bad day at the studio, so had nothing better to do than geek around online. I used it to bolster my position in the "Designer Mixes" Debate Forum. IMHO an organization that has numerous typos on it's web site is hard to take too seriously. Some of the mixes they "recognize" are pretty interesting (read challenging) combos. It's good that they screen the potential buyers.

Stand by for extinction burst!
How about the Dachshund/Yorkie? I've owned both, but not at the same time. :shiver: This is like a bad joke. "What do you get when you cross a Dachshund with a Yorkshire Terrier?" A smart, predatory digger with the attention span of a gnat? Responsible breeding, INDEED! Or as the website states, "responsible BEEDing" ROFL! This is some mad scientist's website, right? (Gee, do I sound too outraged? Let it go, Kit. Let it go... ) Anyway, Roz, welcome to the forum. : |

Thanks for the welcome.
I know this organization isn't perfect, and yes, I think some emails will help the situation. It has laready gotten them from registering ONLY designer dogs to allowing ALL dogs AND focusing on the breeder, not the dog. To me, this is a WONDERFUL concept - not done by any of the other registries (that I know of). I didn't post the link with the intent that it was perfect, but it IS a step forward and I commend this place for that. |

New Ridgeback Mom!

Since when are Coonhounds a mixed breed?? I'm sorry regardless of the sad effort to make people responsible. The bottom line is...you want a mixed breed...go to the shelter! Looking at that page ticked me off. I think someone MUST have made that as a joke!! PLEASE!

No it doesn't. But every other dog it lists is a mixed breed dogs. So how do Black/Tan and Redbone Coonhounds fit into this group? Those are purebred dogs. I don't get it....
