dog was hit

i week ago my sisters dog was ran over by a altel van and didnt come back for 3 days today his leg was amputated and im glad that they didnt give it away or put it to sleep even though it costed a fortune

Wow, that is so sad, sorry to hear it. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but how was it that the dog got hit? Maybe keeping him on a leash or in a fenced in yard would have prevented this. This is an aweful thing, but all the more reason to keep your dog on a leash when there is no secure area for him. Not only to keep the dog from other animals and people (who may not agree with him being loose), but to keep the dog safe itself. I am sorry if this is not the case, I just don't see how else the dog would have been run over.
