Today when I was in 7th period, me and some blac kpeople were having a chat about Pit Bulls and I told them my mom had one named Spot. They were like cool.Do you fight him. I was like no do you guys fight yours? They said Yea thats all we do in black town. We fight Pits and Bull mastiffs. Them Bull Mastiffs be tearing them up. I was like well I'm going to laugh when the police get you. I hate peopel who fight them. They are ruining my favorite breed.

Ugh.. I know what you mean, southern girl. I absolutely HATE people who 1.) brag about the horrible things they do to animals and 2.) Do it to impress people..
A few years ago in Arizona, some people I knew (no idea where they are now.) had several bullmastiffs that they fought. I never saw the dogs, but the people bragged them up all the time, and really REALLY got me angry. I was only 11 or 12 and I didn't know about calling someone to notify them that it was going on, but I would have now.

Well....you be careful they don't retaliate and hurt you! They very well could. If you report them, I'd make sure lots of people know about it and wait a while so they can't tell who it was who reported them. People that hurt animals are not safe with people either. They have no empathy and they're dangerous sociopaths IMO.

You're probably in junior/high, right? That's a pretty tough time where everybody's trying to identify themselves and find their 'group'. But please please please, ask if they're telling the truth. If they are, Please contact your local authorities. Dog fighting is outlawed (I believe). I know cock and dog fighting is outlawed where I live. The police, themselves, will investigate (if the SPCA doesn't have a say in it). Heck, even the news had a say in it. Please just give the police a call (or have your mom do it) and tell them that you suspect some people are fighting their dogs. If you really truly want to be these people's friends, then you can ask for anonymity. Please, call the local police and rid your breed of the bad rap!

Have you checked the ASPCA's website for a list of shelters/whatevers enforcing the animal laws in your area? I just checked it tonight, and was surprised to find at least three pages of organizations in my area that will look into abuse/neglect reports. Even if you can't find an animal agency doing so, contact the police. Police are especially interested in dog fighting rings because drugs often change hands during those events. I'd really encourage you to do something. If you've ever seen what happens in dog fights or even have an idea, you'll do something. Saying it's "not fair" to the dogs os grossly understated. These dogs are being fairly forced to tear each other to pieces (and I've put that in a common phrase so as not to be gory about it).

I don't care how old you are, you CAN protect animals, and you should feel responsibility to do so. But, like someone else mentioned, do take extra precautions to keep yourself safe. I don't know what the odds of the kids finding out who reported them (especially because they've been bragging all over school) are or what the odds of them retaliating are. If there are drugs changing hands, you won't even have to worry about that- if convicted they'll go to jail/juevenile hall.
