I'm such a "soft touch"...LOL
Well, today we've had a visitor in our neighbourhood. And funny enough, this cutie pie spent the ENTIRE day sitting on MY front porch. It looked completely terrified, and lost. I finally gave in....so in came the stray cat...HAHA. I gave it some water and kibble, and immediately it just adored me.
I spent some time getting it used to being petted and handled by me, then check it over. First off.....he's a him...LOL. Not hard to see, and he's obviously NOT fixed. His fur on his back is in good shape, but under his armpits and belly are severely matted I'm gonna work on that for him though, it can't be comfortable. He is SOOO affectionate, and it's only been an hour....i'm already becoming attached! I honestly don't think I could handle anymore pets, especially another male cat, I already have 2 (they are neutered though). Luckily, Fridays are one of my days to volunteer at the humane society, so I am thinking I should take him in with me. Maybe I can be a foster for him after all his check ups have been done, but I don't think I could keep him full time.I don't know, maybe he has owners and they will be looking for him. Anyway, I took a couple of pics of the lil guy. He doesn't appear to be very old, about 2 i'd think. His teeth are very very clean, and since he seemed so terrified outside and instantly relaxed inside, I doubt he's been a stray for long. ![]() ![]() |

Aww he's really cute!
Maybe you should put up flyers around your neighbourhood. Sounds like an indoor cat got out by mistake. |

OMG! He is ADORABLE! Come on British Bandit what's one more mouth to feed LOL! He looks like he may have a little persian cat in him or himilayan. I hope his owners aren't looking for him and he can be neutered and found a better home. Let us know what you decide to do.

It took me about 2 hours last night to get all of the matted fur sorted. It was SO bad, that after about half an hour of trying to brush it out, and realizing it wasn't going to happen, I eventually had to get out the scissors and cut these huge chunks out for the most part. I honestly thought to start with that he had all kinds of growths over him, the matted fur was so compacted and twisted, it actually felt solid. I really had to investegate these "growths" before I was comfortable trying to cut them. I did a darn good job though, I just cut off what really couldn't be fixed, and brushed out the rest. I also trimmed his claws. There were REALLY long! He is such a good cat though, through all of it he just layed there on his back purring away.....such a cutie. I got my medium sized dog crate out to put him in there last night, and put in a blankie and a litterbox. I didn't want him roaming in case he decided to spray or use my furniture as scratching posts...LOL. About half an hour after going to bed I heard him pawing away at the litter, thinking YAY, he is litter trained. But right after that, he started crying. So I got up and turned the light on, to discover that he had actually pooped all over the blanket, maybe it was due to a switch in food, but I was very runny...eww. He had used the litterbox to pee in. I am very impressed with him though. He is in NO way shy or nervous around me. He has actually followed me from room to room, wherever I go...LOL. While I sit at the computer now, he is right beside me purring away on the other chair. When I do take him to the humane society today, I will have no doubt in my mind that if he isn't collected by his owners, he will for sure find a home very quickly (possibly mine..hehe). His markings and colour are just incredible, his temperment is excellent, and to boot, he has these gorgeous BIG BLUE EYES! I definately have to get a picture today that shows those baby blues. So, let's see how it goes. I do think taking him in is best. This way if I do foster or take him in, he will have had his shots, been cleared for good health, and be neutered. A few things that I myself cannot do for him at the moment. I've even be trying to think of a name for him, "just in case"...LOL. |

LOL! You big softie! You are just as much a sucker as I am for our fur babes. Once an animal steps foot into my door then there they stay. Good luck to you and keep us updated.

Now you've got me thinking of names.
How about Sahir (it means "friend") or Shiro (meaning 'fourth son'... Since he'd be your fourth male in the house)? Cass. |

Those are great Cass!!
But no matter what names come up, there is one that just really sticks out for me. I can't seem to get past it...haha. OSCAR. I have no idea why, but I've always wanted to name a pet Oscar....LOL. And he has the look in his face like a Himalayan or Persian does. Kind of a grumpy/grouchy look (even though he isn't). I thought Oscar "the grouch" would be perfect...HAHA. |

Well, after a VERY unimpressed visit to the humane society today, little Oscar returned home with me. Looks like he'll be sticking around after all. I have found an organization in the area, that is a no-kill shelter for cats. To help people out, they offer a free spay/neuter program
So I'm going to call about getting Oscar neutered. They can also post him in their "lost and found", and maybe a previous owner will get in touch. But for now, if he's staying, he must get fixed. This is going to be crazy having 3 young male cats in the house...LOL. If things don't work out, I may bring him there to be put up for adoption, but for now, I'm going to see how it goes. Hopefully the boys don't take too long to get used to each other. Right now, they just avoid each other, but on occasion they unexpectedly walk into each other and there's a lot of hissing and a few swatting paws. But at least they can be on opposite sides of the room, and still fall fast asleep in each others presence.Still havn't got a pic of those baby blues yet....LOL. |

look at those eyes!! he's perfectly adorable. i'd so keep him, but i'm just that way. i have 4 cats, 3 boys and a girl. all fixed, but it didn't really matter at first - they hated each-other just the same. there was a lot of fights, a lot of vet visits and a lot of tears, but things did get better, and now they're hardly ever in seperate rooms. they eat, sleep, play, and groom together.
