Is any one near Southern Maine?

I have had to move to southern Maine to attend school while they rebuild mine in the Cayman Islands. My husband and pooch had to remain in the Caymans since it will only be a couple of months but I am already having doggie withdrawl. I was hoping some new of a rescue or shelter that is in need of volunteers. I have looked in the phonebook and the ones I found say they do not need volunteers at this time. Wierd huh? Oh well, thanks for any help.

i am about an hour away from maine and i have a friend that works at a shelter in maine .....

where are you located?

Wow, my brother lives in Maine....Cumberland Foreside....I think near Portland. (?)
