My Junior prom is tomorrow night! I am going with my boyfriend, of course. We're going to dinner before we go. It starts at 7 and ends at 12.
Those of you around my age, do any of you have a prom coming up? Or does anyone have any pictures from their prom while they were in HS? The prices for tickets were outrageous! Juniors who HAVE paid their dues - $65 Juniors/Seniors who have NOT paid their dues - $75 Seniors who have attended JR year and paid all dues - FREE Seniors who did NOT attend JR year and HAVE paid all dues - $40 That's crazy. The other high school around here is having their prom next weekend. Their tickets were up to $105. But, not sure when I will be online this weekend. Just thought I would let everyone know! |

Aw! You looked so pretty! I love being able to dress up. I have so many nice dresses it's not even funny. LOL And I'm talkin' like evening gown and really fancy. We would see them at the thrift store, I'd try them on and they would always fit me perfectly. My mom could never resist.
I will definetly get a lot of pictures! It's going to be nice seeing Steven dressed up ![]() My dress is black, strapless, and knee length. The bottom of it arches up over my knees and the sides are longer. Nothing VERY fancy, but still pretty and simple Hard to explain but you'll see what I mean when I post pictures. It has a gold sequin design on the front. My shoes are gold with gold sequins. The jewelry I got with it, looked gold in the picture, but is actually all silver. My mom said it doesn't look "off" at all and that the sequins relfect off of it. Wearing my hair half up --- my mom is doing it for me. Had my nails done, which is taking me a bit to get used to typing with them. LOL I haven't had them on in a while. I'll post pictures sometime this weekend or on Monday. |

I'm an old fart, but my Senior prom was like $15 per couple. The high school I work at just had theirs, and I think tickets were $35 regardless of what you attended, or dues. The Senior class got to pick the theme, then the Juniors raised money to put it on. THen both classes raised money for the After Prom party. That seemed to keep the ticket cost down.
Hope you had fun!! |

I remember prom
Was sooooooo much fun Just lovely. 3 years ago now... starting to feel old.... lol. Darn, I can't get my pictures up Sure hope you had fun. My school was pretty awsome with that kind of thing. To discourage kids from drinking that night the prom went till really late, and for the night of graduation they threw a dry grad which had tons of games, food, competitions, prizes, contests, dancing, everything. It was an awsome night. ![]() |

I hope all who have proms this year have a blast & keep safe!
The one prom I went to many, many years ago was one to remember - the band did not show up! Everyone rallied together - 1 guy went home & got his stereo & quite a few others went and got their albums & 8 track tapes (see I told you it was years ago )and we still had a great time. Guess you could say we sort of invented DJ's supplying music at a party. ![]() |

As you said, prom is expensive. I see no point in wasting that much money on stupid tickets, stupid dresses, and a waste of an evening that I could be spending with my dogs. (If you haven't already guessed, I won't be going to Prom.

Thanks everyone! I had a really great time. The only down side was that the air conditioner was out in the the whole entire hotel. So it was pretty stuffy in there! They had this really large, portable AC unit... but it wasn't enough to cool the entire place. It wasn't horrible, but it was warm when we were out there dancing.
I got pictures on my digi, as well as my dad taking some on his camera. I'll post the pictures tomorrow, as I have not uploaded them to my computer. Two kids weren't walking well, so they had them tested... not sure for what... but obviously tested positive for something that they weren't supposed to be doing. They escorted them from the building, and are now not allowed to graduate. They told the seniors at the assembly before hand, if they were to get into trouble for ANY reason at Prom, they would not be allowed to walk. Stinks to be them! Linda: Your daughter looks beautiful! I hope she had a really good time! Wow, she's only a freshman? She looks a lot older than that! You ought to see the number of bobby-pins I had for my "up-do" LOL I had to have my boyfriend take them out for me because there were so many. Tessa: Well, I guess some of us feel differently about these things. I think it's nice to be able to get really dressed up. Even though the ticket was expensive, it was well worth the money. I love having pretty dresses -- I've got about 10 of them hanging in my closet. I also use them to help out with girls that I know, who live in a family environment that either doesn't support them well, or they can't afford to buy nice dresses. So I let the girls use mine. Will post pictures soon! Thanks everyone! |

Sounds like you had a wonderful time and I can't wait to see your pictures!!!! When I was your age, we didn't have proms but I always loved to get all dressed up...especially my graduation. I figured, heck! why not, I worked hard for it and I deserve it!!!
Don't daly on the pics there girl, you have an audience waiting ![]() |

I'm glad you had a good time. You'll have good memories. I would love to see some pictures.
I think almost every prom has a couple of kids that do something stupid. My daughter had to take her hair out the next morning to play softball, she wanted to keep it in for a while longer, minus the bobby pins. My son goes to his junior prom friday night. |

My prom was good...but kinda annoying at the same time.
My highschool always has it late in the year, usually the first weekend in June. I broke up with my boyfriend about 2 weeks before hand, no biggie, a good friend of mine who graduated the year before aked if he could go with me. He was on my American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team anyways. (which was the next day). Prom was on a Friday in our school gym, (2006 will be the first year they have it at another location). We went to dinner which was amazing. Then got to prom...they ONLY played rap. Our king and queen dance was "mo money mo problems". Guess thats where discound DJ's gets yah. Tickets were only like $20 per person, but then again it was in our Gym. A good portion of us were heavily involved with the Relay so a lot of us left early to get some sleep before we had to be up 24 hours the following night. I got home and chaged out of my dress only to have a bunch of friends (from a different school) raid me out of my house to go to a party. So I never got to sleep that night. I had to be at the relay site by 10am to set up as team captain. So basicly I woke up at 6am to go to school Friday morning and never got back to sleep till 9am Sunday night. I grabed a quick nap at the relay but nothing substantial. The relay for life was my biggest concern that weekend, not prom. Oh well, Those are the times well remember forever. The summer before I left for college was one of the most memorable times of my life. Im glad you had fun. |
