how old were your dogs when you got them?

just curious who here has adopted adult dogs and who has gotten puppies. (or both!)

my first dog, siren, was 15 when i got her.
luce was a year or so.
mushroom was two-ish.

i've never had a puppy. (i waaaaaaaant one!)

Daphney was my first pug.. she was given to me as a gift on Christmas Eve, the day she turned 7 weeks.

Winston came to me at 8 weeks.

I adopted Raisin about a week and a half before his first birthday.

Oscar I adopted when he was oh gosh... 3-4 years old. Guessing on that. The honesty of his previous owners was questionable.

I think Bentley was maybe 3 years when I adopted him. Maybe older. He was a stray, so it's hard to say.

Emma, who is now more of a "neice" to me, was about 4-5 months old when I picked her up after she was found as a stray.

Farley was 8 wks and Chloe was 12 wks. All the rest of the dogs I had prior over the years were all in that age range except for the 2 Great Danes that I rescued who were both about 1 yr old.

Winston was almost 3 when we drove to get him. He adopted us from the time we picked him up. And has always been a gentleman...good with all people, loves kids and other dogs..just a joy.

Reggie was 6 months. My son was moving where he could not have her...so I said I would keep her until he graduated college. Well, he graduated in Dec. He moved last weekend. And Reggie is now "my baby" His son is slightly allergic to dogs, but he knows gramma has "his" dog and he can visit her whenever he wants. So it works for both of us.

Tai and Kimi were both eight weeks old when I got them...heh heh, demonic little cuties.

My next show prospect I hope will be about six months old.

Kyrel was 6 weeks when I got him, he was from my ex-boyfriends mom. (5 years now)
Kaede I bought when he was 9 weeks.(1 year now)
Mudd is a story and a half that I got from an evil man(beat her, chased her, and barely fed or watered her ) who was going to kill her when she was just 8 weeks old because she is part pitbull and he could not find a good home for her Worst part was he was going to do it with an axe!!! Even showed me the set up the jerk. So I took her with the intentions of finding her a home, but I just did not think anyone was good enough and I fell in love with her So glad I kept her for myself now, she is such an amazing dog(8 months old now), but she still has some fears she has to over come from that evil man.

That's just utterly horrid. That poor dog. She's so lucky you came along.

I have had one puppy. A miniature poodle named Angel (she passed a few months ago) The other three were all adult rescues. I found Zoe when she was 1, I rescued gracie from the shelter when she was 2-3 and I adopted Maggie from my grandmother when she was 2. The one thing I have missed out on is a male dog. Never in my life have I had a male dog and never in my moms life has she had a male dog and she has had alot of dogs. I don't know why she doesn't like them I guess it's the leg lifting thing but my next dog will definatly be a male rescued Greyhound.

King my moms pomeranian was 3 mos old
thats when i was a kid
Bubba the black lab was a rescue age unknown but i'd estimate around 2 at the absolute oldest.
Liebe we got at 5, and she turned 6 a few months later in nov (2005)

Sadie was about 6 months old, she turned one year October of 2005.

I've never had a 'new" dog, i've never 'purchased' a dog, and now that we have two lively ones in the house I know it will be a long while before i think of it.
I do want my next dog to be a breeder 'purchase', as i want to fulfill one of my "breed specific" wishes from childhood

"Bandit" my GSDx, was a throw away at only 5 weeks old. I picked him up on the side of the street one night on my way home from grooming school. Some boys were picking on him and kicking him along the side walk, they smelled of POT!(big long story) Anyways, he is now (11 years old)
"Caiza" my ACD, I got from a very reputable breeder right here in Belchertown, Massachusetts at 8 weeks old. He will be 1 years old on June 3rd already. My, where does the time go!
