Stray kitty.

So, here we go again, not even a month ago I took in a stray cat (whos owner found him). This time, I found this little guy screaming outside my front door. He only looks to be 5-6 weeks old, and appears to have been attacked by something. He has what looks like a small bite out of his right ear, and definately has a broken left hind leg. He was favouring it, and after giving him a check over, the bone is noticably sticking out, and painful for him. He hides it well under the fur, but is very underweight also.
I wish so badly I could take him to a vet, but it's just not possible. I've been off work for a month, and just cannot afford to do that. Is there anything I can do to help him with the pain until tomorrow. I know for dogs, but a kitten, and this young? I feel aweful, and will take him to a no-kill rescue in the city tomorrow. He seems fine for now. He gobbled down some food and is sleeping peacefully beside me. This lil guy really is a trooper, even through the pain he's still very affectionate and full of purrs.

Some pics of the lil guy.

Kudos to you again!LOL! I really don't know what to tell you to do for him other than get him to the vet ASAP. I know you said tomorrow so hopefully he can be all fixed up. He is adorable!

could you just call the vet and ask for advice, explaining the situation to them? Poor little guy.

What's up with all the stray animals, first I find a dog, now you have this kitten, and a few other people have posted lately as well???!?!!?

Well thanks so much for taking him in. I am sure his so happy to have a safe warm place to rest and some food in his hungery belly. Poor baby.

That was really sweet of you.

I guess the animals in your neighborhood are communicating with each other and saying, "if you need help...go to British's house". What a great reputation to have.

If my vet was open today (which it isn't, it's a holiday weekend for us), I would call there and see what they could do, I'm sure they'd help me and this lil guy out. But the only places open are the emergency vets, and in past experiences, they don't tend to do you any "favours".

He's doing better though. Sleeping for now, and he was limping around earlier without screeching. Maybe the screeching was more just from being lost and scared, even though the leg has to be causing him his fair share of pain.

I did call the emergency vet, and they said they couldn't do anything unless I brought him in for them to look at. Useless really.

Hahaha, yeah, either that or the word has gotten out that I'm such a soft touch. I havn't seen any strays around (dog or cat) in the first 2 years I've lived here. It makes me wonder a bit if I havn't started becoming a "drop off" spot since asking around about the last stray. Never mind though, even if I have, I have no problems taking these cats to the no-kill shelter if people are too lazy and uncaring to do it themselves. Obvioulsy I can't keep them, 4 pets is more than enough for me at the moment...lol. But giving them the best chance to find a forever home, that I CAN do!

His coloring is gorgeous! He is lucky to have found his way to your front door! I'm sure the shelter will have him fixed up and in a loving forever home quickly!
