dog hanging

I was driving into town yesterday to pick up my grandaughter and some mongrel had tied a dog up by its rear feet and hung it in a tree beside the road

It was dead so I couldnt do anything for it, I cant imagine any sane person doing this, I rang around and was told that they do this to show people in the country they willnot tolerate dogs running wild on their property. ( what morons )
This peeves me as farmers wont desex their dogs because they think they work better intact and naturally an intact dog will go hunting a girl in heat so naturally you are going to get a good working dog who takes a little hike to the next farm.

What really finished the day for me was that little stephanie saw it and was distressed about why a dog was hanging there too.
All I keep seeing is this poor magnificent looking dog dead

That is so sick!!

I am so sorry that your granddaughter had to see something like that. I don't know how I would react seeing that!

I cannot understand why someone would do that....I don't like stray dogs around either, but that seems VERY extreme!

If the law is anything like it is in Texas, the law gives a farmer the right to kill a dog that is "harassing" livestock. It's not uncommon to see coyotes on fences in areas where they were killed. The same is done in Australia with dingos.

Why would anyone do such a thing to any animal? I seriously hope that *edit* rots in hell. I'd like to have him step in my yard so I can hang HIM from a tree by his feet...or by his big toe with a fishing hook... Heartless *edit*..

Ahhh!Sometimes I wonder what does through peoples heads. They couldn't stop and think for ONE second and remember all the kids that pass by there, or family that doesn't have a dog now. It would have been much safer just to call animal control. Is that not enough of a warning for the dogs family?? People suck! No wonder I like animals more that humans....grrrr....

That is absolutely horrible Linnie. For every day a person does something to warm my heart and redeem the race, there seem to be a slew of them out there working hard to bring it back down!

Well, I get part of it. I'm sure many of you have never made a living raising livestock and don't understand the impact a stray dog can have on your livelihood.

Is it the fact that the dog was killed or that is was strung up in a tree that has you so outraged?

Linnie, I'm going to guess that it was the fact that it was in the tree because in this thread ( http://www.globalpaw.com/global-paw/...-day-ever.html (worst day ever!) ) you said "if a dog came threatening my pets or animals on my property it would be one warning then I would get someone in to shoot it"

Did you explain to little stephanie why the dog was strung up in the tree? Maybe what she will take from the experience is that if you let your dog run loose, it could end up strung up in a tree.
