Fuzzbutt attack

I went shopping at the mall with my mom and lil siblings (yikes
) today and while we were there JeanAnne wanted to go to the PetStore and look at all of the critters. As soon as we went in there, all I had to do was glance once at the dogs and I could tell 3 things that were wrong with some of the breeds (aside from being an active breed that needs a job, cooped up in really small cages ). 1. A Shiba Inu was in there and it was BLACK&TAN!!!! (I don't think black&tan dogs are allowed but correct me if I'm wrong.) 2. They had two Corgi pups in there and they were both HUGE!!!! THey were bigger than the Rottie pups they had in there!!!! 3. They had a American Bulldog ( strangles petshop owners ) and right below it's eyes were all red like it had been scratched raw or something !!!! Man do I HATE PetShops for sticking those dogs in little cages and buying them from the BYB and Puppy Mills in the first place!!!! They had active dogs that need a job (AMerican Bulldog (one of my fave. breeds) Wemaranier, Rottweilers, etc.), smushed in little cages!!! The little DONKEYS!!! UGHHH!!!!! Even the Westies they had in there could barely move in there cages!! I felt sooooooooooooooooo sorry for that American Bulldog . |

UGH!
I HAAAATE Puppy millers, Backyard Breeders, and pet stores. And I despise those who support this atrocious system (buyers of the sickly pups). Pet stores who sell puppies are supporting impulsive purchases. That is the absolute worse thing you can do while buying an animal. Any kind of animal. Gosh, I remember some people would protest against stores who sell dogs by standing around and handing out flyers with info about puppy mills and the horrific origin of the puppies. I also remember somebody walking by the store and hollering Puppy Killers and Puppy Mill or something. The store eventually got shut down (YES!). As for the Shiba question---Actually, Black and Tans are allowed in the show ring. They just don't do as well as Reds and Red Sesames. |

I go in a pet store that carries puppies on occasion.. They are one of the better ones (is there such a thing as a 'better' store that supports puppy mills?) in regards to how they care for their pups. But I still see awful quality dogs in there. They had a Papillon in there about 2 weeks ago. He was a """RARE ALL WHITE""" papillon.
For those who don't know, an all-white papillon is usually either not purebred, or (in this puppy's case) has some form of albinoism, with a pink nose and pink pigment. I also saw a Border Collie in there. If there is ANY breed that shouldn't be sold to impulse buyers, it's a BC. ![]() And yes, Shibas are black and tan as well as the 'orange cream' color. |

im gonna get yelled at for this I know I am, but I got my dog at a pet store...
most of the older members know this by now, but you new members dont. I got my Samoyed at a pet store that my fiances friend owns. I do not support her and think its wrong. It was not a spur of the moment decision, I thought it out, and know it wasnt a responsible decision but I saved his life. He was 4 months old when i got him and he too was in a cage way too small...I have met his breeder- this specific case was NOT a puppy mill, though I think they do have some of those too...these were just irresponsable breeders- though still not a good idea either. He has had no adverse health problems, he trained very easily and has been the best dog EVER. Kinos story-> http://www.globalpaw.com/showthread....ghlight=rescue (Breeder or Rescue?) |

Ugh, you don't want to know what I could do to those darn idiots! I HATE THEM! I can't stand it........I'm actually planning on handing out fliers about pm, byb, etc. in front of a few stores. Hopefully it'll help a little, but the fliers aren't done (they include information on spaying/neutering, food, bybs, pm, km, etc.).

I was in a local pet store recently, a large chain, and I saw a "purebred" lab. I'm almost positive that it was a cross, possibly hound, it had huge ears and was too slim and sleek looking to be a purebred lab.
On another visit, same chain but different store, I overheard a woman complaining about what she believed to be an abnormality on a pup's foot. She brought it to the attention of one of the store's employees who could not tell her what this "abnormality" was. I went over and looked at the dog she was talking about and this deformity was a dew claw. |

I was at a mall the other day with my friend, and she dragged me into the mall pet store to look at all the puppies. I always hate visiting because the puppies look so cramped and unhappy and I get so mad when somebody buys a puppy, but I can't really say anything bad about the store because that's where my friend got her dog! (BTW, her dog is six and STILL has housebreaking accidents) Anyway, we were looking at a family playing with a Golden Retriever puppy (adorable but his fur was way too wavy and he was obviously pet-quality...so much for them selling only "pick of the litter puppies"), and they were reading some thing about Golden Retrievers aloud. It was rating Goldens on things from a scale from one to five, and was like "Protectiveness...5, Friendliness...5, Trainability....5, Pleasant Energy Level....5." And then right next to them was a family buying an Eski-Poo!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen puppies like Jack Russells run around and around in circles in their tiny cages, which is heartbreaking. Sometimes I even take excessively hyper puppies into one of the "Get Acquainted" areas (which are still too small for a puppy to play comfortably) and let them run off some steam and play with toys. I'm sure it annoys the pet store employees that I always take puppies out and never buy them...but ha ha, they deserve it. And no, for the record being, I have NEVER bought anything from that store, especially not a puppy! |

Yeh, I HATE the PetStores. The one that I went to, they take care of there animals (including rabbits, birds, etc.) on a scale of one to ten, they are probably about a 6. They have really big active puppies crammed in small cages and even their rabbits are over populated. (The cages are clean though, but there is just way to many animals in one cage.) Luckly, we get our dogs food and treats and all of our other animals stuff at PetsMart. The only thing you have to feel sorry for in there is the stray cats up for adoption. I saw a 'Pure bred' Lab in the store a long time ago and it was balck with brown markings! It had the markings of fa rottweiler only it also had a brown spot on its cheast.

. But anyways, the same friend now has a bunny ( ) and they're actually thinking that in the next couple of years they'll get a dog. I'm preparing a whole flier on puppy mills, kitten mills, BYB, Spaying and Neutering, foods, etc. and I'm going to give them one once they're finished. I'm also including a "don't get the wrong idea".......in other words don't think you're somehow "rescuing" an animal by buying it from an idiot. ("Poor baby, let's save him!" ) |

Unleash The Possibilities

You know, not all puppies in pet stores are from "puppy mills". Some pet store owners buy from "real" breeders. I hate to see animals in the pet stores...that goes for the snakes, too. But pet store doesn't equal puppy mill. I would bet more puppy mill traffic is going on over the internet.
