Sad story and a quick "hi!"
I'm in the midst of finals and term papers, so I haven't been around much. Went to Niagara Falls (LOVED it! Cried half the way home 'cause I didn't want to come home!), and have been busy with school ever since. I'll try to post some pics from my vacation as soon as school's out!
On a possibly sad note... I'm looking at volunteering at animal control over the Summer, so last night I was on their website just browsing, and came across their dogs that are in the kennels for lost/found. Their pictures and updates are slightly behind, so I was looking at dogs that came in around May 6, and needed to be claimed before May 10th or they become wards of the city, and can be put up for adoption or euthanized. Suddenly, I see a picture of a "Silky Terrier" who looks IDENTICAL to the Yorkie my family took in not long ago (see: http://www.globalpaw.com/global-paw/...res-story.html (We acquired a dog today! Pictures and story.) and http://www.globalpaw.com/global-paw/...-him-back.html (What do you do? Owner wants him back...) for the story). We had him in August of last year, and his fur length is about right, his name is Bruno, and he has a blue tag on, just like he did when we had him. What are the odds that there's an identical Yorkie out there (with a name as ridiculous for him as Bruno) that happens to end up lost again?? I'm almost sure it's him, but there's no way to know for sure. I was hopping mad when I saw him on there. Animal control is closed until Tues., and because he was in there at the beginning of the month, it's very unlikely he still is, but I'm going to check on Tuesday and see if he happens to still be there or if they documented what happened to him. I'm so angry that we had to give him back to his owners at all, and then to see him at animal control, lost again... It's just not right that any dog has to end up in animal control, but a little, timid guy like him? My heart just breaks. I don't know what I'll do if he is there (I really can't believe he would be), as it puts me in a moral dilemma, because I know how to find his owners, and I wouldn't want to, at all. And legally I wouldn't have to, either. Here's one of the pictures posted on animal control's site:![]() And here's a picture from when we had him. The friend of our's that found him shaved him practically to the skin, and you can see how horribly skinny he is: ![]() By the way, how he ends up lost with a collar and tag... The number on his tag last time was the mother of the actual owners. They [the owners] claimed she'd just kicked them out of her house, so she was mad, and that's why she said they didn't want Bruno anymore when the people that found him called. I thought the owners were full of it anyway, but that's what allegedly happened last time. *sigh* Other than that, everything's just been busy. Too much schoolwork, and lots of naps with Missie. I hope you all are doing well! Did I miss anything in the last two weeks? I've been trying to catch up! ![]() |

Update: I went to animal control today with the little picture they had on their website in hand. I asked the lady if by any chance he was still there, and she said actually he'd been adopted! This was good news (anything but going back to his irresponsible family!), so I thanked her and left. However, as I'm waiting to turn out of the parkinglot, a van turns into the parkinglot, and my mouth drops as I realize Bruno is in the front seat of this van!! I kid you not! So I'm completely in shock not knowing WHAT to do, so I exit the parkinglot and pull alongside the road where I can see what this lady in the van with Bruno is going to do. Her and a little boy carry him into animal control! Of course by then I need to head for school or I'm going to be late, so I didn't have time to try and figure out why they were taking him back in. So by the time I get out of school animal control is closed, and my sister could only get their answer phone machine when she called. So I have no idea what any of that was all about, but it was wierd as heck!
I'll update again when I find out anything (if I do). Animal control probably does shots/spaying/nuetering, so he could've just been back in for that. It's just crazy how this little dog keeps crossing in and out of my life! |

I know our animal control is also where you register your dogs w/ the county. Go to animal control w/ the picture and see if the dog is there, maybe, they will not let you take him home but it will answer some questions...

Mulroony, that's what I did--took the picture in--and the lady said he was adopted. And I trust her, she appears to run things around there.
Well, talking to animal control this morning, they hold that Bruno is "long gone" (adopted awhile ago now). So he must not of been returned yesterday when I saw him carried in. It's frustrating because their website is completely down (the lady said they haven't talked to the girl who does the website in at least a month), so there's no way for me to monitor if he ever comes back in. Unless they call me back about volunteering there. I told them I'm not available until after school's out June 10th, so we'll see about that after then.My dad said today he still has Bruno's previous owner's number, strangely enough. The whole thing is just wierd, but I guess nothing will come of it (for now!). I'm not disappointed, as long as he's in a NEW home with hopefully better owners. On another strange coincidence note... My mom brought home a business card for a local pet rescue from the gym she works out at. Coincidentally, animal control has the same rescue's number on a hand-written note on their wall. I happened to notice it the first time I was in there asking about volunteering. Small town or strange series of coincidences? lol |
