old toy, new treat

well i bought rocky a toy a while ago, a toy that you put treats in and when they roll it around a treat comes out (cant think of the name) anyway, i bought some small hard treats to go in it when i got the toy itself. rocky never wanted to play with it....... or the other dozen toys he has in his kennel.. he only plays with ONE ripped to shreds toy. anyway.. i was kind of irritated that he has sooo many toys and doesnt play with any. i want him to have an interesting life.. and not just lay around, i want him to have fun. so i grabbed the toy, and grabbed his favorite chicken treats. shoved some inside and had him smell.. and VOILA! he was interested, intrigued even. so i layed on the floor with him and played, once he got the hang of 'ok, i roll the toy and treats come out' he couldnt get enough of it! (well...... right now, he is laying on the bed all worn out LOL ) just thought i would share that i finally got him to play with something interactive so im happy. lol

Are you talking about Kongs? I have yet to get my dog interested in hers. Maybe I should try chicken treats.

If it is a Kong try cheese, peanut butter any doggie treats. Mia loves hers. I stuff it and then freeze it. She loves it best that way.

it isnt a kong... it was a cheaper version from petsmart that rocky picked out himself and then refused to ever play with. it is basically three balls that form a triangle so he never knows which way it will roll. and it is small enough for him.. its funny as how many small dogs there are out there i always seem to find things made for big dogs. a few of rockys toys are actually cat toys *shrugs* at least he likes them. oh, and this is a hard toy, not a chewy one like kongs, and the hole is pretty deep, so i dont want to try peanut butter because he would never be able to get it out LOL. i took it away for now, since its almost dinner time, i dont want him to be too full of treats and not eat dinner :P

Bailey loves those toys! She figures out how to get the treats out too fast though. The last one I bought her lasted about 10 minutes. She just picked it up and shook all the treats out and then left the toy when it was empty. It cost about 12 dollars too! Thats a little more than a dollar a minute for her enjoyment!
