Unhappy What else can I do?

Ok, the past week one of my neighbours...(I don't know who yet), has been throwing chicken bones over the fence and the dogs have been getting them. I talked to the neighbours on both sides the other day and both denied it, yet it happened again today. I've told them my dogs don't get human food to start with, never mind chicken bones, so if it "was" them, to please not do it again, it could cost me an expensive vet bill, not to mention put my dogs' health at stake. Again it happened. What else can I do to stop them doing this? BBQ season has arrived, and I'm sure they'll all be out doing it often. I'm so sick of it..........already.

Do you own a video camera? I would set it up around the time you think it is happening and see if you can catch them at it.

Otherwise, as much of a pain as it is, you'll have to go out and check the yard before letting the dogs out.

Goodness, that must be awfully frustrating to say the least. Can't imagine why someone would do that...wouldn't it be less trouble to put them in the trash?
BDL has a great idea...if you could catch the culprits red handed it would solve the problem.

Angry

I think I'd set up a net cam out the window. You can also buy wireless cameras at the spy store and The Source. I'm thinking about putting one up too. I have some people next door I don't trust . I never let Emma out alone. I always walk out with her every time. I hope you can catch them. Keep us posted.

Do your dogs bark all the time, are they loud or annoy the neighbors? Many dogs in neighborhoods get poisoned by frustrated neighbors.

I don't know what else you can do, other than check the yard and keep an eye out when the dogs are in the yard.

Great idea! I have my parents video camera here right now. I borrowed it months ago to get some video of the dogs and never returned it...haha. Even if I can just catch which side these bones are coming from I can find the guilty party. What gets me is that these people both have a dog, so either they are feeding thier dog chicken bones as well, or they are intentionally trying to hurt mine. Which for the life of me I couldn't imagine why. They both "claim" they think PJ and Tysa are great. But I tell ya, if I do catch them, there will be hell to pay!

No, Tysa very rarely barks. If she does it's usually when someone knocks on the door when she's sleeping, if she's awake, she just runs to the window wagging her stump. PJ only barks when someone goes really really close to the gate...even with his waggy nub.
It's not often that they are left alone outide either, and if they are it's just when I run upstairs to use the loo, or to answer the phone. It's because of this that I've caught them eating the bones. I see them go chewing on something and go right over, say "drop it" and toss them in the garbage. I'm very careful with my own garbage too. It's placed in a garbage in the hall cupboard until garbage day, secure and out of reach from the dogs and the cats, anything like that, tuna cans, bones.....anything I definately don't want them getting into (just as a precaution, they typically don't go for the garbage unless it's "in their face"...LOL).
The only noises that come out of my dogs outside usually are when Tysa nips his legs, he'll let out a yelp, or when they play fight. Which isn't noisy anyway, just puffing and panting and the occasional rumble.
I guess I can't expect much of these people. They aren't very "dog smart".

People do weird, strange and mean things to pets. I hope you catch the culprit.

Alsoi if you catch it on tape and god forbid something dos happen to one of your pups, you will be able to prove who is responsible so they can be brought to justice. So save the tape if you do catch them and let them know you have it so if they get any ideas they will think twice

I bought a little spy camera with night vision at home depot. It hooks right into you VCR. I have a very CRAZY neighbor. I was thinking, maybe if they have dogs and they are putting the chicken bones out for them, maybe a crow or something is getting hold of them and getting into your yard?

Well the battery for the video camera should be almost done charging. Sooo...let's wait and see.
I'm almost scared to find out, this could get nasty. I wouldn't mind if whoever it is just admitted it and stopped doing it, but catching them red handed after denying it and doing it again after I asked them not to......aarrrgghhhh, my blood will be boiling.
