Nick came from a first-time breeder. We picked him from the litter of pups because of his markings, and his very playful nature. He was the one tugging on my coat sleeve (as if to say, pick me! pick me!). I suppose it's no surprise that he's been tugging ever since! I know that we didn't exactly follow the guidelines for selecting a puppy, but we couldn't be happier with our choice.

Pug Mom

I've committed myself to a pup from winstons breeder, but after this, I want to stick to pug rescue. I paid for this pup last year, so I hate to back out now - would be a bit rude of me i imagine.. and i do so want a little girl again. sigh.

I consider Kino to be a rescue...
I did get him from a pet store- I know people warn against that however from everything I could tell he was in good health and a pure breed for $100. He was hard to pass up, he was great with other dogs, well behaved for being from a pet store. I got him to a vet right away and she said he is in GREAT health. Her first worry was his heart and she said his was nice and strong. I know of another local vet that has bought two dogs from this pet store and has said most dogs from there are healthy, so I took the chance. I figured even if he did have some problems that by me getting him I was going to give him the best life possible for however long or short it may be. The vet said she thinks he will live a long healthy life. Either way I rescued him from being stuck in a cage way too small for him or later being put to sleep way before he ever got a chance to enjoy anything in life. Since then he’s potty trained quickly and become a great dog. He gets along great with the two other dogs we have. He’s enjoying life and doing great. I do not necessarily condone buying pets from pet stores but in this case it couldn’t have been a better decision. ---------- As for the Min Pins the older one was bought from a breeder and the younger one was breed from her. |

(I made a point of asking a staff member to refill the bowls). Poor little guys, not a very good start to life. I'm so glad to hear Kino was rescued into a loving family. We recently had a new pet store open in my area called "Global Pet Foods" - and they DO NOT sell live animals. I have started getting all my pet supplies there, and telling all my friends to shop there too. It's just to bad more stores wouldn't follow Global's lead. |

my eli came from a shelter. i went in one day, looking for a puppy and they had just one. he had been found that morning in their "night drop". they estimated his age to be 7-8 weeks old. anyhow, i felt guilty not getting an older dog that probably wouldn't get adopted, but the minute i saw eli, i fell in love! so anyhow, he's been with me everyday ever since. he'll be 3 years old tomorrow. (estimated birth date)

Hi, my name is Barrett, I live in the united states and I am new to this forum. I have an 11 month old mini dachshund. She came from what I thought was a responsible breeder but has had so many medical problems that I have my doubts as to how responsible they are. I have told them about her medical problems but they don't care. I think it is hard to find a good breeder here.
