Small, Medium, or Large?

Do you like Small (toys, minis, etc.) dogs, Medium dogs (breeds such as the Shar Pei and Sheltie), or Large dogs (breeds like Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, and German Shepherds) better?

For many reasons I prefer medium-large dogs, but in some cases I do appreciate smaller dogs. Probably the number one reason I like smaller dogs is that they're easier to travel with. I would never like to bring a large dog on an airplane (heard to many horror stories), but with a smaller dog I would. But on the other hand, medium-large dogs seem to consider themselves lap dogs, and for some reason its nice to have a 50-150 pound animal on your lap, isn't it?

I used to be a medium to large dog person. That was until Jack Russells!! I was in 4H and a girl in the club had one. I thought it was the coolest little dog! I've loved them ever since! Like the breeder of my JRT says..."They are big dogs in a little body!". Since I was turned onto the JRT I noticed other small dogs. Though I like tough dogs...not the fragile little things that some small dogs are...there are small dogs that are tough. Of course I wonder what happened to Cricket...she's kinda fragile...she hides under tables when the other two dogs get going!

I prefer medium to large dogs. My dogs are 35, 60 and 70 lbs. All of my relatives have bigger dogs and I guess that helped shape my bias. I guess I would own a small dog if I fell in love with a cartain breed.

Well Large as in "every large". "Regular Large," "Extra Large," "Medium Large" (notice there is no dash).

Overall, I would say that I prefer dogs over 20lbs. I adore Ripley but I HATE how fragile he is, he can't run or play with Dakota because he will get hurt, if he gets stepped on he will probably die, and if he jumps off the furniture the wrong way he could break a leg.
With Dakota, I don't worry a bit about him. He can jump on and off the furniture.. if he slips and falls, we chuckle and call him a silly pup instead of screaming and running towards him to make sure he isn't severely injured.

The only thing about the big guys is that they eat more, poop more, shed more.. When they jump on you they leave a bruise instead of barely pushing on the skin. If they bite, they take a BIG chunk instead of a small one. etc. etc.

I like Large dogs, but medium dogs are cool too. I don't really like small dogs, but small dogs with a big atitude are pretty cool. (i.e. Shiba Inu, Jack Russells. Not Chihuahuas, Malteses, etc.) Probably I would say I like 40+ pounds.

Used to be an XXXXXL dog lover. Hence, my Greyhound *blush*. Then, I landed myself with Lucky and I am a Pekingese/Greyhound gal, now. Of course, I have a preference towards the bulkier, heavier Pekes. So, I guess 14-18 lbers and 60+ lbers.

Although I have a soft spot for many dogs of all sizes, for myself personally around the house, I don't care for the TINY dogs.. the iddy biddy fragile ones. Nor am I really wanting a large dog either.. so I've settled on my pugs, the largest breed in the toy group. They are smallish but not tiny, big enough to get on my lap, but not by much lol. Easy to put one under my arm and dash to the car or something. So their size is a big plus for me. Excellent bed warmers at night too, I might add.

I have always liked large dogs. I have owned a black and tan coonhound and many German Shorthairs. I like that I could go jogging with them and wrestle with them. The are great companions. Now I only have a mini dachshund. This is the first small dog I have ever owned. I used to call them yappy and ankle biters, now I know better! I don't think I will ever be with out a dachshund again. I'm in love!
