Greyhounds- The meaning of "Love at first sight". Saw them years ago and have never taken my eyes off 'em. It wasn't until this year that I started seriously researching into their temperament and upkeep. I had excess money, time, and space so I started seriously considering buying/adopting a Grey. AKC breeders were no where to be found and prices were outrageous, the waiting lists were jam packed, so I went searching for adoption groups.
Lucky was my mother's impulse buy. I later persuaded her to let me take him. I honestly don't think I would have acquired a Pekingese if given the chance... |

Pug Mom
|
I wound up with pugs because for me, they are a perfect size, I love their expressive faces, and very much enjoy their personalities. I don't need or really desire a large dog, I like a smallish house dog but not a TINY dog. The pugs are smallish but stout. Small enough to fit on my lap, big enough that they don't seem terribly 'breakable'. Very people oriented and constant shadows. For me, they are "it". I may wind up with other breeds over the years, perhaps a boston or a frenchie, but pugs will always be in my life.

Hi Jean, we didn't forget about you! How is your dad doing?
We chose Bailey because we needed a small dog for our traveling life style. It would be hard taking a big dog with us on airplanes all the time. My husband has had dachshunds growing up and he really loves the breed. Since owning Bailey I love them too. She has a big dog personality in a little body. |

The Papillon is and probably always will be the most ideal small breed for me. They are extremely intelligent, relentless little problem-solvers, and the biggest clowns. I chose them because they were widely called "big dogs in small packages" and ohhhh boy is that ever true!
I chose the Border Collie because I wanted a larger, sturdier breed of dog with the intelligence that Ripley has. I wanted a challenge and a dog that would always keep me on my toes. Now that I've owned one, I don't think I'll ever be without a Border Collie. A lot like Sheltiepups feels like the Sheltie is just right for her, I feel like the Border Collie is just right for me. I didn't choose the Labrador, my brother did. Shiner, my chow mix, and Buddy, my wolf/lab mix, chose us. |

I chose my Labrador because they are sooooooo friendly and people oriented, smart, willing, easy to train and great with kids, just a wonderful family dog. And they have that natural, sturdy, practical look.
I chose my Doberman because they are so aloof and not into strangers. LOL. No, I love so much about Dobermans, I don't want to hog up the whole Internet. Since having Lyric, I can't imagine not having a Doberman always. The intelligence is uncanny and almost weird sometimes. I'm constantly saying, "How did you know that??????" The sense of humor is huge. I'm laughing hard many times during the day because of his ways. I love how he can switch from easy going clown and goofball to serious worker and protector. I've never had any more affectionate dog that was so into his owner. They tend to be extremely sensative to their enviornment and cannot be treated harshly, but need firm direction. If bred and handled right, they are absolutely NOT the indiscriminately "vicious" dogs their reputation has made of them. My dog can totally recognise a friendly stranger from a burgler right off the bat. He's got a wonderful temperament. Love it! Love this breed. And besides all that, to me they are a most handsome, atheletic breed. I chose my Chihuahuas becuause they are so unbelieveable....how can anything be that small and still be a dog? They're great little lap dogs and tougher than you think. Mine climb mountains. LOL. They are a riot how they play. And they can turn off the switch from silly to calm in a heartbeat....they match my mood exactly. |

I chose the Greater Swiss Mountian Dog for MANY reasons. We did So much research on many different breeds when were were looking for a dog. The Swissy had all of the characteristics that we were looking for. We spend a lot of time outdoors (hiking, canoeing-try that with 2 Swissies!!!!,
snowshoeing, ect). They are also extremly loyal and AMAZING with children. They are so expressive and I swear that Zermatt understands every word that comes out of my mouth (although we do have selective hearing when there is a squirrel around! hehe). I also seem to be drawn to the rare breeds! They are such an awesome breed.... I don't think there will ever be a time when I don't have a Swissy! ![]() |

I chose the mini schnauzer because I fell in love with their personalities. They always seem to have a mind of their own, so independent, yet needy at the same time (so much like me). They're inquisitive and comical. Plus, they have beards and bushy eyebrows!! LOL Can't get any better than that!!

"Nothing is ever easy"

The only dog I've really 'chosen' is Rose. She is a mix breed so I didn't really know about what kind of temperment I was going to be getting (her temp. is almost like a sighthounds now) but I chose her because she was a big rolly polly puppy and she looked the most like her mom. (Not the best way to be going about picking a dog, I know, but I was only 7 at the time and didn't know better.) Blackie is an awsome dog and I really like his temperment. It is friendly like a Lab, yet protective. And he is VERY smart and trianable. Brownie choose us, we didn't really choose her. She just wandered into our yard one day and we decided to keep her.

I have two now a male Zeus he is black and white with blue eyes and I female Samantha she is also black and white with blue eyes. I also have a Husky/ Malamute he is brown and white has brown eyes and he is a big boy all 101 pounds of him.

Vizslaiz

I chose the Vizsla after seeing one at a pound. After doing months of research on the breed, I loved everything about them. I was pretty unsure at first because of their high-energy level, and really had to be certain. After more research and asking questions I knew this was the right dog for me. I fell in love with the Viszla because;
Companionship The way the look (gotta love those ears) Size Intelligence Loyalty Energy Always wanting to learn and impress you ('Velco Dogs'). *They are the only sporting dogs that can sleep with you and wake up and go hunt for you. Just some of the reasons why. ![]() |
