Bobbing for cookies to keep cool
Well, due to the heat, I've been keeping my own dog and one of my client's dogs cool with water activies. Too hot outside or on the beach right now, so I threw some small cookies in a tub of water with some icecubes. Tia has a pointy snout so she's getting the treats picked out pretty good, but the boxer has a muzzle handicap going, so I slip him a few on the side for effort.
Anybody have some "pupsicle" recipes or dog cooling tips? I feel like I should go outside and turn some earth in the shade for them. Cool, moist earth always seems to help. How hot is it where you are today? We are only in the 80's right now, but it's humid. ![]() |

113 here today.
My husband set up a misting system for the dogs that covers just over half of the dog run. It has a varied reach and strength...today it is on full blast. The Rats also have a pool out there that has fresh water trickling into it all day long. They have a kids slide and playhouse int he dog run so they usually get in the pool, and go under the playhouse which is in the spray zone. OR they come inside. Lexie much prefers the water action to being cooped up in the house all day. Emma however would learn to use the toilet if I let her just so she would never have to leave the house again. Goose the Labrador mossies in and out...mostly in. |

We went for a walk this morning. I found a shady spot to sit on my bum and threw balls into the lake for the dogs. Mostly we've stayed inside with the A/C going.
It's HOT ! It's been in the 90's here! We're so not used to this kind of heat. |

Me and my boys and girl took a walk down to the lake. They had so much fun. I'm glad they all enjoy the water so much - we don't get much relief otherwise, house heats up like a furnace and no A/C
It was 35 C today here. Hotter then usual. We are not use to this weather. In fact it's been so warm that all the lawns are burning up, and yellow insted of their usual dark green. |

my two love ice cubes, a LOT, and a few times for fun i've frozen a lil peanut butter or a small bit of canned food in the middle, i've experiemented w/ other treats but have yet to find anything else that doesnt just dissolve out, and i have to wait until the ice is in that semi-solid state to insert the 'treat', but its still fun to watch em and i know they love em!

It was 84 degrees here yesterday and we nearly died. Like I said before, we very rarely get hot weather, but when we do, it feels more like a 100 degrees to us because our bodies just aren't climitized to it. Of all things, our ref. went out. Not the bottom freezer. I got lucky and found someone who would come out on a Saturday to fix it.
Today it's cooer and it's also cloudy which is odd for us in the summer. Even saw we could have rain, which is VERY rare for us in the summer. |

Its been terrible hot here all month. Upper 90s, heat index of over 100. My kids are content to lay inside....but when we do go out, they lay in the shade, or I'll spray down the grass in the shade and they lay in that.
