The Tahltan Bear Dog. I found this dog by accident quiet sometime ago on the net, and find it's history to be very intresting. I was wondering if any of you may have heard of it, or have any information you would like to share on it. Sadly it is now suspected to be extinct. Here is a small but to the point page on it.

I just found something intresting.......

This web page contridicts the other I posted.
It mentions the Tahltan Bear Dog was recognized by the CKC in 1939...
I think I am more inclined to believe this one then the last because all the photo's I find of the Tahltan Bear Dog are black and white and usually accompanied by a native. If they were around till 1984 I think we would have more photo's and not to mention colored ones.. What do you think?? Here is the other site.

I think these are the dogs a Northwest woman uses to run bears off from residential areas. I've seen a couple of clips on the news.
