I hate email forwards...

I get them every day and I never open any of them... I've been reading email for about 10 years now and most of them are recycled and the rest are just plain silly. So, imagine my surprise this morning when for some reason I actually ended up not only reading one, but crying...
This is the forward I got...
Quote:
>A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the
>scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
>
>He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead
>for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
>
>After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of
>the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, i t
>was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
>
>When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch
>that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate
>looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he
>got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
>
>When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
>
>"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
>
>"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
>
>"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought
>right up."
>
>The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
>
>"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler
>asked .
>
>"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
>
>The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and
>continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long
>walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road
>leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed.
>There was no fence . As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside,
>leaning against a tree and reading a book.
>
>"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"
>
>"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."
>
>"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
>
>"There should be a bowl by the pump."
>
>They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned
>hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl
>and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When
>they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was
>standing by the tree.
>
>"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
>
>"This is Heaven," he answered.
>
>"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road
>said that was Heaven, too."
>
>"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope.
>That's hell."
>
>"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
>
>"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave
>their best friends behind."
Not to get too tall on my soap box, but people, I love you all, and I want you to know that. Not only do we have the common bond of the love of dogs, but we all have a choice to make in this world. And don't let anyone fool you, it is a choice that you must make!

That's good Novel. It is a good lesson.

I like forwards, but I hate the ones you have to download. LOL. I get a lot of great forwards, some very clever joking things and neat things like this too.

Thanks for sharing that....pretty neat!

Yeah, I tend to delete forwarded stuff too. Funny enough, anything that has "dogs" or "pets" in the title at least gets a look....LOL.
That was a great one though. It gave me goosebumps at the end there!

Funny thing was that this didn't say anything about dogs. Just said, Thinking of you... and it was from someone that never sends me anything but forwards... we all have friends like that, can't type a short note to ya, but send ya twenty forwards a day... LOL!

ah, i've always loved that story!
i dont like forwards either, and i dont open them, EVER. especially because a few family members who are addicted to forwards are also not terribly saavy and have infected themselves w/ viruses before openig unknown emails.
Most of my friends know to send me something, it better come directly from them...hello...cut and paste? sheesh!

I don't mind getting anything at all. I just weed thru them. Some friends only send really great stuff, so I always open those and am never disapointed.

Awsome story!! I also weed through the forwards, a lot of them are good dog jokes or stories, but the others I can definitely care less about.

Thanks for sharing that one!

Glad you all liked it. Today has been just a great day, for no real reason inparticular. I mean, I'm cleaning the house, but this email really set the tone and it's just been a joyful day so far!!
Hope everyone else is also having a great day!
My next project for the day is to get my newer faster computer running again. This dinosaur I've been using for months is finally getting on my last nerve... If you don't hear from me later it's because I've crashed both computers!! LOL!

I've always liked that story too and glad to see it in text so I can save it.

I delete anything that includes the text "forward (pass on, send, etc) this to all (10, 20, etc) of your friends". They are nothing but electronic chain letters which clog up the internet. If the email means something, you don't need to be told to forward it. Also, when I forward, I copy/paste or delete extraneous forwarding trash and put my own thoughts around it.

Thanks, I may need it... First I had to clean the spare room so I could find the computer desk. I moved the dinosaur onto the dining room table and haven't been back into my office in months... Needless to say it has accumulated some junk, like the seats to my van, tons of Christmas wrapping paper, a ton of books, and an untold amount of unidentifiable things that I have no idea where I am going to put, but they can't stay in there... Sigh. This is how my house works. I move things from one room to another to another. I hate it when things don't have a place, but I guess that's the price I paid when I married a flea market buying, auction loving, junk collector. Oh wait, he married one too. I guess we were meant for each other!

What a sweet story! I've not run across that one before.

I wish I had the energy to go through some of my extraneous "stuff" today. I'm going to have to have a garage sell at some point. Good luck with your computers!

richnrissa, you'd make a ton! We already have two large pole sheds... and as odd as it seems, they're cleaner now then they ever used to be. DH even had room to pull the car in and work out of the weather this weekend. What we really need now is some shelving in the basement. I've got just about everything in labeled boxes. Did that last fall during my foot surgery recovery. The sad thing is we haven't opened but one of those boxes since.... seems to me like maybe we don't need all that stuff.... but, ha, what do I know!
We usually have quite a few garage sales over the summer crazy paws and that's what helped clean out a majority of the stuff out of the one shed.
I've actually made a path to the computer desk and have the other computer hooked up and on... but, still trying to fix my corrupted files... which was the reason I abandoned it in the first place... anyone know anything about computers??
I'm going to have to post something in another thread!
